I play on it all the time at Seymour (miranda soccer) and endeavour. Endeavour is the best, feels almost natural and is awesome to play on compared to the fields we have in the shire. Not sure how you would go playing league on it though, can give carpet like burns. Oz tag would be great to play it on though. As far as I know its remaining open to the public. Think the council got together with the shire soccer association. Lilli Pilli's home ground was done last year and is open to the public.

I can remember as a snotty nosed bratt when Kareela Ovals were first developed. They were the alternative to closing down the world famous Kirrawee Kangaroos Soccer fields that were between the Gymea Tech and Gymea High School.

The ovals were boarded by Hotham Rd, and the Quigs Base Camp Alpha in Talara Rd.

Kareela Golf Club course was half finished too.

Anyway back on topic..... sorry.

Didn't it used to have a big world globe or something off to the side, near the highway?

Canf't remember that Feej. But I can remember one day heading over there to have a look and while we were there there was a mob of big older fit blokes who had just finished running around the place. They walked past us.

One of them was a young Wok Ryan.

With the benefit of hindsight I would say it was a group of old Sharkies ....hey?

Lilli Pilli's ground hasn't even been started yet - was only approved about a month ago. The locals complained that there was nowhere for them to walk their dogs (first world problems).

The Kareela fields are for soccer use not league and should be finished shortly.

The seymour shore stadium has just been resurfaced. Im not sure of the surface used this time around but the old surface type was much better to play football (soccer) on than 5 sports at Endeavour. The grass at 5 sports is much longer and spongier so its harder on the old legs.

You wouldn't be able to play league on either surface.

Didn't the NFL try artificial turf (Astro turf ?) and finally go back to the real thing?
i think so gunna. this was years back if i recall rightly. there was talk of a rise in knee injuries due to the increase in grip and lessening of give in the surface.

could be total crap too! someone will know.

Didn't know that about lilli pilli. Thought it was done last year. Just played on Seymour. Same stuff as before. Agree that endeavour is a little longer but it's much more forgiving on the knees and ankles.

The 5 sports one doubles as my home ground for half the season. When it's hot, the ground adds about 20 degrees to the temp!

played soccer at the ANU on their fake fields.

some guy went in for a slide and came up like he had come off a motorboke at high speed

would wanna be better than their fields thats for sure.

Yep. Best to avoid the slide on those fields. Thats why its impossible to play league on them.
