djokovic has been unbelievable the last 12 or so months. he plays a similar strategy to federer (at his peak) in that instead of getting caught up just going for the safest shot cross-court he backs himself to hit to open space. before his current golden run i don't think too many would have seen it coming.

he's come a long way in 18 months. mid-2010 if he'd copped the same injury or slouched like he did against murray at certain points he probably would have forfeited. credit to him for getting himself mentally stronger. seems to be a real buzz in serb tennis right now. i only hope anna ivanovic gets back on top (yes sexual innuendo intended).

ps. souths 20 premierships are nswrl premierships. the self proclaimed pride of the league keep barking about them but are one of three teams to never make an nrl grand final. even the salary cap can't help them.

Most Serbs I've met come across as arrogant but Djokovic seems to be really down to earth. I like him.

Before Djokovic took it to the next level. Federer had guys like Hewitt< Gonzales and Nalbandian to contend with. :lol::lol:

Nadal hadn't even reached his peak and exposed him for the robot that he is.

There is no question Djokovic is the better player now and his consistency is outstanding. Federer was far better at his peak though. Even though Federer is still playing well, being 30 and half a step slower, plus the fact courts have slowed down a fair bit since 2004-2007 when he was at his peak, means his game isn't as effective. Federer has still won 12 majors since Nadal burst onto the scene, and 6 since Djokovic has been ranked in the top 5. Full credit to Djokovic though, he really is quite likeable and humble.

I can't get over how amazing that game was last night. So many returns that no other player could have gotten back.

It's pretty crazy how things have worked out with the top four. Federer was the king, Nadal raised the bar, Djokovic raised the bar on him. Murray and Nadal raised their game to new levels to beat him, so Novak just stepped it up even further

Yes and Federer is now at the end of his career. When Djokovic has been as dominant for as long as Federer and has a record of equal or better than him only then can he claim to be a better player.
