OT: PDJRL dramas

I realise that rugby league officials have to look at what's best for rugby league, but the way the likes of Gallop and Gould talk about this like it is only happening to league seems incredibly naive. It is happening in every single sport in Australia except soccer and netball. Less and less kids are signing up while more and more adults are giving it up. The only reason cricket and baseball don't have it worse than league is becaused of the perceived danger in comparison. I have close ties with baseball in the Hills area and I can tell PDJRL could learn a lot from some of the initiatives brought up there. Some that may work are clubs with half-squads brinking on Div 1 quality working together to form a single Div 1 quality team (alternatively I have seen teams created by the association themselves of players whose clubs didn't have appropriately graded teams) and rule dispensations for lesser skilled teams (unsure of the rule tweaking in junior league but the most obvious one for mine would be changing number of tackles in the set).

The jump between 1st and 2nd division is too great.
Take the top 4 teams from Parra and the top 4 from Penrith and form an inter-association league.

Terry Rose!! ....*shakes head*

I know that there's a forumer here affected by the events of this case, I'll leave it up to him to comment if he likes..

I know a lot of players in the Rhinos A grade. They were trying to compete in Div 1 against all the power house clubs. The Rhinos had no reserve grade and no C grade to call on. In the 1st game they lost 2 players for the year(Taken away in Ambulances) and 4 others for up to 6 weeks.Rose said in the article that the Jnr lge had no knowledge of injuries. That is because the players concerned went through their own health funds and medicare and not the inadequate insurance system. This meant they were playing Div 1 with 18 players....IMPOSSIBLE and not fair. He said they forfeited a game with 13 players, he is a liar, they had 11 players there and 2 were only playing if desperate because they were injured. The Rhinos had told Rose 3 times the names of players and the injuries they had but he just ignored it and then bagged them in the paper, how weak! No wonder a lot of teams and clubs are unhappy if they all get treated like the Rhinos.

Lost me, then I guess that is easy, guess must take some comments too seriously.

The issue between the club and the exec is possibly personal, between people who knew each other before being involved in footy admin, which is unfortunate

Yeah, that could be done, but it means only the top 4 teams, of both parra and penrith improve overall.

What we should be doing is spreading the talent a little, to improve our
comp, as a whole.

There is absolutely no point or benefit in cabra and wenty having 4 under 15's.

I think a few tough decisions need to be made in the next year or 2.

f**k off Bear you drip.

12th Man.
Hey Eels, good to see you showing your intelligene with that well thought out reply. By showing your ignorance, the rest of us can only assume you know what I said to be true. Terry Rose has blatantly lied in the article. Rouse Hill had 6 players injured in game 1. Two were gone for the year and 4 for up to 6 weeks. This left them with 19 players in Div 1. They had no C grade and no Reserve grade to call on, about the only club in that boat. They also had 6 players who were Police and on shift work, they could only come to occasional games. You cannot play Div 1 without adequate backup and if you know football then you know this is true. Rose was told in writing on 2 occasions, the names of the injured players and their injuries. He chose to ignore this in his untruthful comments. He also says Rhinos forfieted a game with 13 players. NOT TRUE. I was there and they had 11 players ready and 2 of those were injured and only to play if desperate. He reckons he has nothing against Rouse Hill but Terry Rose has NEVER said in a newspaper article that a team/club were going to be fined for a forfiet and called decietful, doesnt sound like he has nothing against them to me. What if he said that about your team/club, especially when it is a LIE. That team lost 16 Div 1 games in a row and deserved to go down. Rose promises them Div 2 and then weakly went back on the promise, showing no integrity at all. Time for a huge change at the jnr level or teams will continue to look elsewhere for fair treatment. He also said it was about winning a premiership. Whats wrong with that, dont we all set out to achieve that for our boys, at least at the start.

Oops, I've lit a fire here.

Although I read only the first couple of sentences of your post, I can say that I am sympathetic to your plight. (too difficult to read. The enter button and therefore paragraphs are your friend. Consider using them).

As for my previous comment. It was a rip off of a line from one of The 12th Man cds by Billy Birmingham. It was simply a reference to your username being "The Bear" aka Ian Maurice. It was certainly not a reference to yourself personally or the circumstances mentioned in this thread. I apologise for any misunderstanding. As I said, I'm an un-funny man.

Good luck with your plight.

from a penrith view
joining together a junior level would never work. The 2 clubs just dont trust each other enough for it to work.
A idea may be to zone parra of into 4 areas only allowing players to move within clubs in that zone. That stops large clubs pulling kids out of that zone.Cut the number of transfers from 2 to 1 per age group to a club unless related`example if brothers

Bingo!!!Murraymob, what a great idea. I had thought about 2 conferences, west of Wenty and north west of same but your idea is excellent. If zoned into 4, for player movement purposes, that would be ideal especially if we did not group powerhouse clubs together. It is definately worth a try. Hope it gets passed on, its the best suggestion to the problem I have seen in a number of years.

Thanks Eels, it is an un-fair battle and that team are now playing Div 2 for Riverstone in the Penrith comp and are all having a great time and being treated really well.

The Penrith league welcomed them with open arms and went out of their way to get the boys registered to play. They won last week and for many Rhino players that was their first ever win in A grade.

It is a sad indictment on Parramatta that they had to move districts to play on a level field. I am too young to know who Ian Maurice was or is and I take no offence.

Looks a bit like David Fairleigh, and is probably a better footy coach.

Raiders junior switch

A MOVE to have Canberra link with Mounties in the NSW Cup was expected to be rubber-stamped at a Parramatta junior rugby league board meeting last night. As of this weekend the Raiders have officially cut ties with Queensland Cup side South Logan as part of an agreement with the NSWRL at the start of the year. Canberra needed to be aligned with a NSW Cup team if they wanted to keep their junior clubs involved with the NSWRL.

As a result, players not tied up in the NRL will for the remainder of the season be divided up among the local clubs, including Mick Picker (Goulburn), James Stuart (Tuggeranong) and David Milne (Woden) this weekend.
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/slap-in-the-face-for-poor-hindy/story-e6freye0-1226085252759

Does this mean that we are to lose Mounties as a sponsor ?
