"Police have blamed alcohol for a massive brawl that led to a rugby league grand final being abandoned on Sunday.

"At least one player has been cited over an off-the-field incident after brawls, both on and off the field resulted in the St George Junior League A-grade grand final being called off, five minutes before full time.

"Units from St George, Hurstville, Miranda and Sutherland, along with a dog squad, had trouble settling the violence which quickly spread through the ground. Police said one brawl involved up to 30 people.

"During the melee a Brighton supporter allegedly threw a pram down the stairs, sparking a further brawl."

Well I attended the A reserve GF and there was a punchup in the upper tier of the ET stand. A Dela supporter told a Fijian Menai supporter, to "shut up you black ****" When the fijian took offence to this the Dela supporter punched him in the mouth. Twenty thousand people jump on top of both of them as they are wrestling. After the melee subsides the Fijian calls the much older, much bigger racist out for a one on one stoush which he promptly refuses. Then hes mate pipes up and says "Be a man, just walk away, just let it go".

It was disgusting.

I just got the lowdown . Brighton scumbag did a Les Boyd then got sent off and give the crowd the bird. Then Renown guy got ten for getting involved and all hell broke loose .

Como and Engadine supporters brawled after the game, kicked, stomped punced, cops were called to end the thing.

I think both are a disgrace and those idiots that cant have a beer and enjoy some local footy should piss off.

My brother played a trial against one of the St.Geogre teams one year, and there was an all in brawl, spectators ran on etc, i was shocked.

One of the players for the team if you guys can remeber a while back, was the guy who Stabbed that doctor while he was walking home one night, and there was a big man hunt for this bloke.

Was that the asian guy walking with his wife and kid in a pram in South Hurstville? He was attacked by a car load of middle eastern males. Real heros. The victim,who did nothing to antagonise the scum, was stabbed repeatedly. How he survived is a miracle.
