Pup is due.

So is his wife...:p

Ponting would have bowled on that deck, gee we miss his captaincy :sarcasm:

Some of our shot selection was disgracefull. Why are we trying to defend deliveries 3 feet wide of off stump?? Neville and Clarkes dissmisals were amateur hour

If poms manage to win this test, then we need to win the last 2 to retain the ashes, and vice versa if we win this test. So this match is crucial.

Hopefully we can get them out for under 200 or there abouts and then post 400 plus ourselves to give us a shot. Could end up being a cracker of a test

don't we need a win and a draw if we lose this as we are the holders

ahh yes, correct (and poms would only need to win 1 from the remaining 2)

But we don't play for draws, and weather pending I suspect all 5 tests will be results driven, the calibre and form of the batting on both sides wont suggest it will be anything but.

Hoping this series isn't going to be like that 2010/2011 series in Australia.... After the 1st Test was drawn, England won the 2nd Test, looked on top but then Johnson destroyed them in Perth in the 3rd Test and at 1-all, the poms were supposed to be mentally down and ready for the taking in the last 2 tests.... They ended up spanking us by an innings and then some in both the the 4th and 5th tests to take the series 3-1....

If England are fair dinkum about winning this series, they need to own the first 2 sessions tonight. They can put this test well and truly beyond us if they dominate those 2 sessions. If we can somehow knock them over and limit their lead to less than a hundred we might be some chance but even then, the batting in the 2nd dig needs to be a lot lot better. Hazelwood going at 5 an over..... unheard of. Bayliss may have come up with a plan to target the youngster...

Haze and Starc have been shit

Chance to redeem themselves with the bat.

If they each get 30, Lyon makes 20, and Nevill gets another 40ish, at least we have SOMETHING to bowl at.

Would be nice if day 4 got rained off.

There is one bloke who is loving the poor form of the batsmen

Some wishful thinking here. 20+ runs in front with the tail left doesn't suggest we are going to get out of this debacle. What's more worrying for those in control is that this game will be over within a session on day three. Won't help ticket sales.

As bad as Hazlewood and Starc were with the ball, the batsmen lost the game for us

Clarke - everyone is already talking
Shaun Marsh should take Voges spot
Warner is still hot and cold too often
Steve Smith needs a huge game next test - seems if he doesn't do well, the whole line up falls apart

Starc and Haze are young and inconsistent, I still think they are our best options but they are still on a learning curve imo.

James anderson out of the 4th test is huge. His record at Trent Bridge is something like 50 wkts at around at average of 18 which is his best ground by far in test cricket.

In saying that if our batters bat like they in the 3rd test it wont matter who is bowling unfortunately

Ok, so we've lost the toss and are batting on a green top.
Our batsman now need to stand up big time.
England need to bat last and need to have to chase a reasonable target.
If not, we are shot ducks.

well the flat decks didn't work so now they think green tops are the way to go but Anderson is out so that will give us an advantage
