OT: US Election

Out of interest, how do you define the radical left?
More extremely than most describe the hard right

Sadd and Peterson are hardly grifters, they are good academics with the courage to express their views which are different to many in academia. It’s called academic and free speech…. The grifters are usually those running for office

there are other very liberal academics such as Jerry Coyne who have strongly criticised the left in recent times, not to mention Flynn in NZ before his passing…. He left the US on the McCarthy era, and then late in his career was silenced because data didn’t fit with the leftist narrative

This is one of the biggest myths floating around, the university system in the US is not radical left, it's not even centre left dominated (especially not in a rest of the western world spectrum).
I’m guessing you work in a Uni? I do too, and disagree with what you’re saying there, but there is variance around places, and in some a semblance of change

I studied under Flynn at Otago - good bloke. Bit of a root rat though, he was knobbing a student at one point, haha

I’ve got to say, this result does make the 2020 result seem more suspicious. I’m not a conspiracist, but it is hard to believe all those people who turned up to vote for Biden just didn’t show up this time around. Then again, maybe I just haven’t got my head wrapped around the scale of the USA

As a disclaimer, I haven't looked into it with any sort of scrutiny.

In any event, this definitely reeks of the Democrats losing, more than the Republicans winning. They are a shit show.

I think left v right is an outdated paradigm, in the US at least. It’s now establishment v anti establishment? Or maybe establishment v populist?

Of course, Trump isn’t a real populist, but he plays one and, bizarrely, seems to have done so convincingly.

One more comment to make is 5 in a row.

A lot of blame must sit on Biden's shoulders. As I said, Harris and the Democrats are also culpable for trying to pull one over the voters' eyes.

Also, this election shows that nobody really cares what celebrities and the establishment media think any more.

Nah. It’s more just a case of last time people who were pissed off at Trump were motivated to get out and vote blue to get him out. This time a bunch of those same people decided the dems sucked too and just stayed home. The actual vote for trump stayed pretty much the same over both elections.

In none of that did you define what you consider the radical left. I don't know what you're complaining about without your definition.

As I noted above I have no idea who Sadd is so I'm not commenting on him. JP is 100% a grifter. He lied about legislation to gain his notoriety and is now part of the lucrative right wing media landscape. I mean he does generally care about his culture warring but it's still a grift.

FIrstly, wth is tutae?
Sorry, I assumed that since this was an NZ sub forum that people would know the word tutae.

You won't like Gad Saad either. He is a university educated fella with a podcast. Gained some fame from being on the JR Experience a number of times. He is a jew. According to wiki he has "argued for applying evolutionary psychology to marketing and consumer behavior".
WTF does being "a jew" and being a "a university educated fella with a podcast" have to do with anything? I assume many podcasters are university educated. And what does being Jewish add to the discussion in your mind?

Good fella. You will not like him due to your participation in the culture war.
Irony considering we're discussing a culture war warrior you're a fan of.

if that's the case, it makes the democrats look as bad, if not worse.

Corrupt or absolutely incompetent and out of touch

So out of touch. It just seems as if the Democrats were utterly committed to winning arguments that nobody outside of a comments section was interested in having. I think I saw Harris, when asked, say that she wouldn’t change a single thing that Biden has done. WTF?? People were fuming enough to elect a crook as a protest vote and you couldn’t change a thing?

That pretty much sums it up. The only important issue they really got on the right side of was abortion, and that was because religious crazies on the republican side handed that one to them on a plate. (For the record I don’t believe Trump himself is anti-abortion and he’ll probably try to back away from that issued where he can or at least leave it to the states)

Bernie Sanders (who should’ve been the Dem candidate in the last two elections anyway) knows the score:IMG_3521.jpeg
