Did anyone watch the game last night? Penrith have been at a different level this year. Playing some of the best footy I've ever seen. I can't wait to play them to see where we're at.
Cleary is such a good footy player.
He has a great arsenal. A true, quality ½ that you can build a team around.
When we were entertaining the possibility of The Chin joining Ivan at Wests Tigers, I wonder what could have transpired.
We played some good footy under Ivan but our head office was too much of a rock show for him I think.

Our head office were fine. He just wanted to coach his son and Penrith had a roster that could win the comp and so he bailed.

To me he showed no integrity but he is a great coach.

Our head office was fine? It was a rockshow. Pascoe led the circus, especially embarrassing Ivan and the supporters by the video antics and chest pumping.
Around Ivan Cleary’s Tigers stint in 2017–2018, the club looked unstable from the top down, not just on the field. By the time Cleary arrived in April 2017, Wests Tigers had already come through the ugly Robbie Farah–Jason Taylor saga, then sacked Taylor after only three rounds of the 2017 season. Around that same period, Tim Simona was also deregistered by the NRL over serious betting breaches, which added another major off-field scandal.
A big reason people called it a “circus” was the feeling that the club’s football decisions were a mess. Commentary at the time described Concord as a “three-ring circus” and a “vipers’ nest”, with questions about player power, board influence, and whether Cleary would get real control of the football department.
Fox Sports also pointed to the fact the club had let the so-called big four contract situation drift into a public drama.
Ivan wanted to coach his son and Penrith swooped, a great D on their part obviously. Imo, Ivan probably said to his son, stay at Penrith I'll come to you.
Marina Go accused Penrith of acting unethically, and the saga became another very public club-versus-club stoush before Cleary was eventually released.
Marina Go was yet another to leave after she had to sort out Robbie Farah's salary cap drama.
The fallout itself was serious. Initially, the NRL proposed a $750,000 fine, to add the $639,000 Farah deal into the club’s cap, and moved to cancel CEO Justin Pascoe’s registration. ChatGPT.

Watch Ask The Boss on YouTube and you'll see Clearey squirm listening to Pasco trying to act cool, just as embarrassing as Madge swearing and carrying on when miced up with another dumb series.

Even now, when Richo was instrumental in good recruitment and squaring away the club who lied about membership numbers, and having a notable chairman sacked then reinstated they signed Benji to a longer contract whilst still having 2 years left on his current contract.
It has worked out so far thank god but what if Benji was a dud coach.
HBG is currently facing the music again.
Thank god we seem to at least have a good football department now, and we might be destined for finals.
The further away HBG is away from the football department the better. But the board apparently dont know about things that they sign off on so they just sack people, then reinstate them then sack board members. Bla bla bla.

It was a non issue. He was given free reign in basically everything. It was a dream set-up.

The reality is he was a terrible recruiter/roster builder and it came across as if he didn't care.

Someone has to kick their butt.. Do you think we’ll be up for it?

We don't play them until round 14. I assume they'll have lost a game prior to that point but if not it'll be interesting how we are tracking.

I think we can beat them if this team gets it together.

I'll have to agree to disagree with you on this one.
Obviously Clearey can coach and is an intelligent man and he would've picked up on our shite-fight.
I could tell he was embarrassed by our antics. There was talk of his son coming here but that was never going to happen.
Historically we were a disaster year after year, and the board would have signed off on our recruitment of coaches, players, board members bla bla bla. However, if we weren't a mess and had a good roster and head office, with no bad press, then Clearey and his son could've united at WT and we could have won grand finals.
Even the start of this year, if we hadn't already secured some top players then they would've walked too because of the dramas that seem to never end.

Benji may yet end up being a dud coach. The mega hype around us is so ridiculous & premature.Weve beaten a shithouse cows at the 8th & the warriors who historically have shit games in them especially when they are favourites & at home.We lost to an ordinary souths in there worst game this yr & who wouldn’t have beaten anyone else. Its too early to make an accurate judgement or confident projection re our team & our coach. Its why I’m looking forward to the next mth as should get a realistic gauge on the team against a Mitchell Moses (who owns us) led Parra an in form knights & Broncos both at Campbelltown & then the raiders at the 8th.If we are deadset a contender for the 8 we should win 3 of the next 4 as we have 3 home games & we get the broncos without Walsh.

What I've said doesn't detract from the fact that I'm a WT nutter but I'll call a spade a spade.
We are doing better this year after previous debacles but once bitten twice shy.
I just hope HBG and the board don't continue to give us bad press and marquee players start wanting to come here. Winning solves a lot of issues, but hey, we won the comp in 05 and the bleed begun. If we were a strong club, led by a top administrators and a great football department, we would have handled it better, just like the Panthers have done after they continually lost marquee players year after year and won comps year after year.

Sharks giving Warriors a bit of a touch up at half time, might be a reality check for our boys

An Achilles heel of ours has been our pathetic front office. As sure as night follows day the knuckle headed buffoons at HBG will continue to embarrass the club.
A massive bugbear of mine re this shambolic club has been the glaring lack of accountability imposed on everyone.U can’t be successful if employees are not required to meet specific KPI’s pertaining to there job description.Sheens’s long coaching tenure when he mollycoddled players & turned the club into a leisure centre helped spawn a spineless pissweak culture which has brought about perpetual mediocrity & the ignominy of 14 consecutive yrs of missing the 8.As a devoted & scarred fan it’s going to take a heck of a lot more than 2 early season wins against avg opposition for me to start believing again in this shambolic club.

I guess it is what it is Ted. We have been continually embarrassed, let down and conned.
I'm trying so hard to focus on my team the Wests Tigers.
All I ask is for these clowns is to stop meddling in football and do what they are good at, emptying poki machines. Just stay out of the media. Liquor and Gaming are asking questions now.

A win against the Eels will get my hopes up again. Last week we beat the high flying Warriors and we got excited about that.... How did the Warriors go this week, beaten by Cronulla. Things can change pretty quick hey.
If we are the goods we must be consistent and win those winnable games.
Where we are going alright atm is with the points differential. This is a true indicator of how a team is travelling.
I hope it's like this near September as this probably means we could achieve something special.
