I'll post what I think is our best line-up for 2012 and see if people agree. This is assuming the Willie Tonga speculation is bunk.

1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Luke Burt
3. Jacob Loko
4. Taulima Tautai
5. Esi Tonga
6. Ben Roberts
7. Chris Sandow
8. Tim Mannah
9. Matt Keating
10. Fuifui Moimoi
11. Nathan Hindmarsh
12. Ben Smith
13. Justin Horo

14. Casey McGuire
15. Mitchell Allgood
16. Reni Maitua
17. Justin Poore

You would also have to assume that McGuire will be retaned for next season and that Poore remains with the club.

??? do you have information that suggest otherwise. If you go off that logic then we can't assume anyone will be here next year (which is a possibility irrespective how remote it may be). Assuming we don't sign or re-sign anyone that isnt contracted.

Hayne, Burt, Loko, Tonga, Atkines, Roberts, Sandow, Mannah, MK, Poore, Hindmarsh, Matuia, Smith: Int: OHanlan, Shakelton, Allgood, Fuifui Res: Lasalo, Horo, Brien

If W.Tonga comes on then Esi moves to the wing and Atkines drops off.

You'd assume Poore will be as he has a contract... Maguire different story though. Interesting to see whether he'll be retained or he'd prefer to retire.

Going off players we know will be here next year, Tonga into the centres, Tautai drops out and Sio onto the wing.

Bit of information around that he has been shopped to other clubs. We also have suggestions that another player other than Mortimer has asked for a release.

I don't think McGuire will go around again but that will be an interesting situation if he doesn't as we will only have Roberts, Hayne, Sandow and Keating having first grade experience - to this point - to cover the 6, 7 and 9 roles, should Mortimer leave...... (we have offloaded Robson, Mitchell and Dean Blackman as well.) Depth at hooker will be limited if we don't sign one or two with some experience.

Too early to predict these sort of things! Who knew Allgood would play such a huge role in our team this season? There has been a host of young players in this side that has kept more experienced and established first graders out of the top 17. Who's to say next season won't be the same?

At the beginning of 2008, I remember Michael Hagan comparing Tautai to Israel Folau. I have to say I was disappointed after ensuing seasons...However I still think he's a solid if unspectacular centre option, better than Ryan Morgan is a nonentity in my eyes. Ken Sio? What's he done? I've never heard of him. I'm intrigued to see if he's good or not. Atkins is signed to the end of 2012 I believe, to me he's a serviceable winger but hardly indispensable. How do you guys feel he's gone this year and should he be in the 17?

Atkins goes alright as a backup player but he wouldn't make many club's top 17. He's strong and good under the high ball, but his try scoring strike rate is very poor and he's not really that quick either. Tautai isn't really an outside back anymore. He never really was to begin with. He had hands like feet and has no creativity with the ball whatsoever. Hence 'No try Tautai'. He does have great leg drive though so that's why he's suited to playing as a bench forward and nothing more.

Sio is a good up and coming youngster, but it couldn't be a good idea to carry him in the side alongside other inexperienced players like Loko, Tonga, and god forbid Morgan.

It wasn't Hagan that said that, it was Knowles. And he was comparing them in a sense that Tautai could have a similar impact in the NRL that Folau did.

Honestly we should be making a play for a winger.

We're probably the weakest team in the comp on the wings. Might be worth looking at someone like Gagai or B Tupou

If the club plans on utilising the players they recruit (which usually happens) then what is so ridiculous about having Tautai play in the backs? There are far better 2nd row options (Horo, Smith, Hindmarsh, Maitua, O'Hanlon, even Sahckleton), where as there are very few better 3/4 line options at the moment.
