Our dirt average winger...

... David Simmons has another good game.

How much longer must he string together top games before he finally wins over his critics?

Let's look at the tape.

Catches a pinpoint bomb, under pressure, for a try.
Plays a central role in Bailey's try down the right side.
Puts on the tackle of his life in the final seconds to end the game and ensure the win.

Good game today. His form over the last 4 weeks has been good.
IMO though he was very average in the first 5 rounds.

Yes he is

Watch the replay again now and see who can pick the 2 defensive errors.

1 didn't cost a try

1 could of saved a try.

improving a little each week. 6/10 today

Simmo looked like a first grade winger today.

That tackle at the last minute was very good.

I would support his selection next week.

Yeah he had a half decent game except for the drop ball I can't remember another mistake ( thats unbeleivable). With you DaVinci 6/10.
Vagana was the player that made Bails try, all Simmons had to do was run a little bit and pass the ball.
He will make a huge mistake soon because he still doesn't look at all comfortable in attack and defence.

Another solid display. 7/10 from me.

David Morrow reckons he's the fastest player in the game.

Simmo v Stewart would be a great match race. Stewart might just get him I think.

Well he cant be the fastest becaue Merrit is faster than him & quite possibly Goldy & believe it or not Gallen.
As for his game today, he made quaite a few mistakes as well.
Still too much bad in his game.
For instance Baileys try. If he was so fast, why didnt he score himself? Bott, Hunt, Steward, Best, Minni anybody else scores that try alone after Vags great lead up work. Covell definitely would have.
No not Simmo, he carries the ball like a "handbag" & runs in field & make the try so much harder & gives a poor pass back to Vags.
Also the poor read when BK fugged up in teh first 10 simmo did not lay a hand on anybody. But hey, the commentators didnt crucify him like they did to best when he kept coming in to seal the overlap & bott stung him on the outside I guess..
Simmo improving after 40 gifted games in the top grade, no doubt.
I wonder what Greg Inglis would like after 40 games in firsts?
Hhhhmmmm.

Covell would have only made the half way line.

He is quick. Stewart and Bott may have scored that try themselves but there is no way that Hunt or Best  would've even come close.

Simmo did pretty well on that one.

BTW - where did you get your 'handbag quote from?'

He played like a first grade winger today, and a lot more of the experienced players made beginners mistake Kimmorley rushing up off line, Mellor dropping ball over line, Peach passing the ball when back turned to defense, so here we have other players making just as many if not more then the improving Simmo

OK that's the first one. The next one was more serious and showed why he still has a long way to go.

Fair to say just about all of our player at least one bad mistake today. Singleling out Peach and BK is going over the top. Both were outstanding today. Although Mellor does deserve a bagging for that no-try on 1/2 time. :? How can he not score:evil:
