Our Front Row Rotation

Lead by Petero our Front Row rotation is becoming one of the best in the game.

Tim Grant is a future Origin player and Sam McKendry is already an international.

Weston is probably the hardest running front rower since Martin Lang for us and Belly is playing some good footy too. The battle for the final bench spot will be pretty intense between these two over the next month.

Just back to McKendry, Bob Fulton just said on radio he will be alongside Matt Scott and Paul Gallen as the top 3 'middle men' in the comp in the next couple of years. He sees a lot of Glenn Lazarus in him. Scary thing is McKendry is only 21 still and he debuted back in 2008!

they are getting the forward balance right from big men to mobile men even the guys filling in are just right

You have to think a big reason for this was bringing petero to the club.

He just has to be such an amazing influence on a young front rower.

Really this influence is worth his contract money alone.

Very true.

Although Weston runs at a 100 miles an hour at the line he has also showed he has footwork at the line and gets between defenders.

Expect to see offloads being further encouraged over the next few weeks from Weston and McKendry in particular.

IMO our front row rotation is easily as good as any other, and better then most. Petero, Grant and McKendry are just awesome and would get a run in any side. While Weston and Bell are pretty decent quality for the fourth front row position.

This is easily our biggest strength and goes a long way to us winning the battle in the forwards most games. It's just a shame until recently our halves haven't been able to make the most of that.

To early to say our current rotation is better than our 2003 GF side with Clinton, Lang, Ross and Waterhouse?

Our front row rotation has been the best now consistently for 2 seasons. We have one of the best props of all time in Petero and two of the best young prop's in the NRL. You add in Weston who has been very impressive in every match he has appeared in and Bell who is a bit of a plodder but does his job week in and week out we have 5 NRL standard Props and that makes our prop rotation the best.

Back row is a bit of a worry but what they need to do is to turn Iosefa into a lock or second rower he is at his best running the ball close to the line he could turn out to be a decent lock. We need some explosiveness in the back row and maybe Iosefa could prove to be a quick fix in the position.

Penriths biggest problem is they have a five man front row rotation with petero, grant, mkendry, weston and bell it makes the bench unbalanced and we seen last year when we got a couple of major injuries at semifinal time we had no seasoned replacements zero depth...

Adrian Purtell in the backrow for a semifinal the worst coaching decision ive ever seen and thats when elliot lost his job........

I was happier with him in the backrow than at centre or wing. At least he was less of a liability, or should have been.

Thats a memory i erased from my mind......close to worst coaching decision ever.

Funny thing was i was talking footy with some clients earlier this week and said that Mckendry is a mean, tough prop who would be in the blues team if he wasn't a kiwi.
We have to keep him long term, props get better with age.

For sure we need sam but do we need bell he is just a player who gives everything but would he honestly make another first grade side i dont think so we need a four prop rotation and two impact players maybe extra hooker as they already do and a versatile player who can play backrow or backs....dont think bell can play anyrthing but prop where as nathan smith is a perfect versatility..

If we keep Bell I can't see him being anything more then depth next season.

Full strength would be Petero, Grant, McKendry and Weston. Bell would be handy depth at Origin time and if we picked up an injury, but would probably cost too much to keep him around for that purpose. If the money is there and we can't find anyone better, I hope he stays. But he should be a last minute decision so we don't risk losing any of our top 17 or missing out on players who could strengthen it.

Again they stood up yesterday despite the loss.

McKendry 11 hit ups for 127m
Petero 17 hit ups for 121m
Grant 13 hit ups for 114m
Weston 10 hit ups for 116m

McKendry's first 15 minutes was outstanding.

I really liked how Weston reacted to a shocking first half. He had a shocker, but when he came out of the sheds you could tell he was enormously fired up and looking to make amends. He was an absolute wrecking ball when he fired up. Says alot about his attitude and I'm more impressed by him each game. Ended up posting pretty reasonable numbers too.

McKendry was immense. Grant and Petero "just" good. As usual the front row gets a big tick.
