Overhaul?

Having seen in previous threads that the coach does not have the final say in team selections, you have to wonder just who is in charge of this team. That in itself, is demorilising for the team members. Those involved in team mangement should stick to just that, and stay out of the coaching of the first grade team.

Former players are fine for team management positions and should just be there for advice for the players and the coach, if need be.

With that in mind, and the current injury toll we are experiencing, I would like to see this team take the field:

1. Dugan
2. Morris
3. Runciman
4. Cooper (if fit) If not Vai Vai
5. Nightingale
6. Quinlan
7. Drinkwater
13. Merrin
12. Creagh
11. Debelin
10. Weyman
9. King
8. Seru

Bench: Hickey. Vea. Stockwell. Vidot.

We have prop rotation, we have speed in the backline and a player in Vidot that can cover both forward and backline positions. People might raise their eyebrows at Jarrod Hickey but I recall a very damaging forward when he was with the Doggies. Don't see the need to take up a position on the bench with a second hooker.

The season is gone anyway, so what do we have to lose.

Thoughts?

Vaivai is out for the season with a knee injury, Seru's fitness isn't close to NRL level. I'm not sure if you're serious putting Hickey there, but 2 reasons mean he won't be playing NRL. His fitness is even worse than Seru's & he is only contracted to play with Cutters.

Drinkwater has been dropped back to playing in the local Illawarra comp, so he's no chance to make it back to the NRL. Bench needs another dummy half - Rein or Garvey. Frizzell when fit is a must in the top 17. Vea isn't up to NRL standard, Harrison or Matthews are better options for bench. Vidot on the bench is worth a try as an impact forward though. If Cooper's not fit, Chase Stanley is worth a run in the centres, better than him playing 5/8.

Until price is gone just expect to keep getting dished up the same crap. Get used to it people its just the way it is cause that's what Doust thinks is ok he's letting it happen. It's time to stop defending him he's destroying the Dragons.

Weeks ago I was dirty on Steve Price but not even I could imagine one team could be so unbelievably impotent. Steve Price has made his calls week win week out and there is no way possible for him to retain his position as coach now. Replacement or no replacement, out of respect to the players, fans and sponsors Doust must put Steve Price back in charge of the Cutters where he belongs.

Unfortunately the only option might be to move Dugan to #6 and leave Quinlan at #1?

The below team might actually give us a chance of at least scoring some points against the Rabbitohs?Provided the injured players due to return in Round 19 (according to the injury update on our website) do come back:

1. Quinlan
2. Morris
3. Runciman
4. Cooper
5. Nightingale
6. Dugan
7. Fien

8. de Belin
9. Rein
10. Stockwell
11. Harrison
12. Creagh
13. Merrin

14. King
15. Frizzel
16. Prior
17. Weyman

C. Stanley... thanks for coming, it's been great!

Fien will likely see the year out in the #7. Only an injury can prevent him being cut by the look of it. I'm resigned to the fact that Price is unlikely to cut him for Drinkwater or Seijka.

You know our team selection is f**ked when an ageing second choice hooker becomes the first choice halfback and kicker. Sometimes at the game tonight I actually laughed at how bad we are. I was surprised there were no 'dice price' banners too.

To repeat what I have since his selection, you get Chase out of the #6 jersey and you put someone with speed and creativity, of which there are a half dozen options.. and we will be twice the team we are today, it doesnt matter whether its Harry or Quinlan or Cook or King or Hastings, it doesnt matter, we just cant put 100% of our play on Fien's shoulders, hes useful but he needs a quick creative foil.

Apart from that (Chase then replaces Green), the side is fine... this is why I get so freaking cranky because regardless of the roster, Price just cant put the right bloke in the right jersey, and the side has deteriorated slowly but surely over 2 seasons.
