Just stop and think about how few people would die on the roads if all motor vehicles were banned. It's mind boggling.

Driving is about time spent on the road.
Like anything else its practice.

I think L platers should have to ;
- do a saftey drivers course(like the one's at Oran Park raceway)
- do at least 100 hrs -logged in all conditions.

Before they can go for their P's.

If you don't have acess to a car- Enjoy the Bus!
Get the community to buy one -think around the problem.

Ithink everyone agrees that the present system doesn't give young drivers enough experience before they join the most dangerous place in the world- the roads.
I can't believe everyone wants young drivers to be at such a high risk.

Curfews, number of passangers, limited cars(they all go at "dangerous" speeds)- Sh!TE what a load of rubbish.

Only one person has the wheel.

Let's also not eat. That would stop people dieing from food poisoning, ban swimming as people drowinng would also decrease and while we are at it let's stop all outdorr activities as less people will be exposed to skin cancer.

I for one would not follow a curfew - ive just started a night time job - and i live in a town where the only form of public transport is a taxi - its just not feasible for me to pay $20 a day to get to and from work - it eats up most of my pay.

I dont care about power restrictions or passenger restrictions etc - but a curfew - NO WAY!

I'm a P-plater, and dead against any curfews, or the like. Restricting the power of vehicles and driver training does have merits though.

Anyone who has the (mis)fortune of reading the Telegraph in the last week or so could believe that all P-platers are the root of evil.

Hang on a sec arent most road deaths caused by drink driving.

Its wrong to bring in a curfew when the public transport is a joke.

I for one am against it. If you want to prevent deaths on our roads, get more cops.

Compulsory driving courses are essential
i agree, apparantly the govt is alos looking into these - but one problem, where will the money come from, i mean the public transport and hospital systems are already screwed and yelling for more money!
ive done the one at oran park and it was a massive help and taught me the knid of stuff u need to know and allowed me to experience spinning the car, etc in a safe environment.
Well stop f***ing killing yourselves and others on the road! If P platers showed some more maturity then none of this would have to be discussed.
Its a fact that when a lot of P drivers get in the car with their mates they get easily distracted and want to show off by driving fast.
oh yea, theyr'e killing themselves on purpose?
yes speeding with friends in the car is a problem, as iot is with some older drivers and as it will be at the end of the limited passenger period - what do we do ban any passengers in all cars?

the common reaction here, and with a lot of people ive spoken to, including older, 'responsible' drivers has been that u just dont wear ur p's!

Mate probably 2/10 P Platers are like that. 8/10 abide by the rules and shouldn't have these shit curfews or whatever to be placed. It's unfair.

From what ive heard they give special passes to P platers that actually do work. But then again then i guess P platers shouldnt have to pay ridiculous insurance costs either, but thats just the way things work.

My System:

* P-Platers are not allowed cars that have more power than a 2.2L car, STANDARD!

* No Modications to the car allowed.

* Compulsory Driving training, instead of sitting 2 stupid quizzes.

* 2 years for P's, not 3. Thats just stupid.

I go to uni until 9:30 PM so i'm stuffed if this comes in, and i can't change my timetable. And i'm up at Kuring-gai and have got to travel back to Cronulla so thats more than 30 min.

I think its stupid.

Just think how retarted the curfew would actually be.
If an 18 year old person was on their P plates, they could :
Legally buy a Non-self-loading long-guns
Legally buy and drink alcohol
Legally Join the Army and fight for our country overseas
Legally Vote

But just make sure your not driving at night time
