Pacific body

Does anyone know if the Pacific governing body that was meant to be set up a year or two back actually got set up? It was meant to run out of Mt Smart Stadium and include PNG, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga etc much like the Euro counterpart.

Reason I ask is I want to know who is really driving the game in this region?

For example why don't NZ have a PMs'13 side that could play Fiji, PNG, Samoa, Tonga etc

There could be more games at the end of the season for these nations and it would be another way for the Kiwis to get players to remain loyal not to mention other polynesian players.

As far as i know there is no pacific body. Just like the Kiwi origin concept all talk and no do. The reason the NZRL don't have a PM 13 playing the likes of Fiji and Samoa in those countries is simple, the NZRL can't afford to. They run the game on the money get from tests and to throw another team together for a PM's game will mean having to cut costs somewhere else.

the 'pacific body' & the NZRL needs to start a pacific island team to play NZ while the aussies are playing origin..

http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/auckland/news/spleg/562037050-kiwis-need-more-games-to-close-gap---kemp

New Zealand Rugby League's calling for more international matches to help the Kiwis genuinely close the gap on the Kangaroos.

In their second and final test of the year, the Kiwis have gone down 18-10 to Australia, making consecutive eight point losses to the green and golds.

Football manager Tony Kemp says the team can't fully gel in one-off tests, and it means they miss out on potential revenue.

"Our game survives on the smell of an oily rag. The commerciality of it when we're only playing one game a year is really important for the NZRL, it just doesn't allow us to earn enough commercial dollars to do a lot more with our players."

Kemp says if they can start beating Australia, it'll make them want more tests to get revenge.

well f**king do something about it then!!!

to be eligible for the 'pacific island team' players HAVE to be signed on the dotted line, fully committed PNG,tonga, fiji, samoa, cook etc test players...

get the RLIF to ratify the 'pacific island team' as a full on 'test team' meaning that if players are selected to play they have to be released by their club...

im sick of hearing the kiwis whinge......when they are in a perfect position to lead a revolution in the pacific!!!

Why don’t they just play PI sides instead of a combined team, nothing stoping them from doing that?

Speaking about the governing body I believe it is the Asia Pacific Federation, which is chaired by the boss of PNG Tas something? I don’t have time to look it up, the federation was mentioned in that RLIF annual report. There seems no evidence that APF have done anything.

because of a couple of reasons...

because NZ would smash all the individual pacific nations and it would'nt be much of a contest..

and the ARLC & NZRL have shown absolutely no will or desire to develop the individual pacific nations so it's actually in those nations best interest in put their heads together and form a combined team...

Then we could have the PI All Stars game back on. ;-)

don't wink mate.....a combined pacific team is going to be the 4th "nation" in the 2014 4nations...

but a combined pacific team will only work if the players selected have actually committed to a pacific island nation
