The Rim tournament would be the Tongan locals, whilst the Pacific Cup team would be the NZ based Tongans.

From the looks of it, all future Pacific - Rim Cups will be underwritten by the NRL / ARL and NZRL as part of building for the 2008 RLWC.

Suppose the rim tournament is the most prestigious if the arl nzrl is underwriting it and it could be expanded for rlwc qualification with japan, argentina, usa and canada possibly joining ,maybe some of the lesser nations would have to play a tournament or matches to get entry into the main event .
