Hoss was consistent, strong in defence and had a bit creativity. I used to love his one-handed off loads. He was a far better player than the erratic lunatic Geyer, and the lazy and inconsistent Puletua.
Never saw Ashurst.
Kikau and Lewis probably fight it out for 3rd place.

I went Martin and Carty.

Would have loved to vote for Kikau or Puletua though.

Kikau at his best was a genuine match winner. Would bust tackles at will, had the offload, the occasional grubber. Seeing him with early ball against a retreating defence spelled trouble every time. Had a great charge down too. Probably not going to get many votes due to how we've gone since he left. Not that we replaced him easily, but more that we've adjusted.

Puletua probably had all the tools to be like Kikau, but we never had a coach or game plan to effectively utilise him in that roll. Even in 2003-4 when we were good, he was essentially another prop bashing it up the middle.

Tough bracket for sure.

Mav Geyer started to show some promise towards the end of the season, but needs to put in a few more good performances before being considered at this level.
