FRANZE JOINS PENRITH
Aug 26 - Sharks centre Paul Franze is the latest player to join the Panthers.

The 22-year-old joined the Sharks in 2002 and was a member of their first grade side until a knee injury that required a reconstruction last year. He has since been playing in the Premier League.

In his first year at Cronulla Franze was named the club's 'Back of the Year' and 'Rookie of the Year'.

Franze, who has also played for Newcastle, will join Penrith in early November. His initial contract is for one year.

maybe another Amos in the wind..........

dud buy for the panthers...The bloke can hardly run.

If he gets fit he could be good in their backline

This must be one of those "non-household name" signings that Panthers management claimed will be the only new faces in 2005.

Quite happy with it.

He was a great centre before his injury. Solid in defence and attack, he formed a great partnership with Matty Rieck in the 2002 season. Dont think of him as a dud buy, rather, think of him as a player with great potential. Had it not been for that injury we probably would not have signed Nigel Vagana to fill his spot....

This is news to me. I know there were a couple of Knights fans who were hoping he'd return to Newcastle.

Hopefully the kid can come back from injury.

Oh dear.....I think with ALL those juniors, surely Penrith could have done better. At least someone that can still run...dud buy.

lies. Nigel was in the plans for ages before Franze went down.

Franze has talent but he is unfit(even though his knee is fine now) and is a real bad defender. But Lang could turn him into what he could have been.

has he played for France?

I doubt it since he is of Italian decent...... or were you trying to be funny?

Good buy Panthers - this guy was once the highest paid junior in the league (when the Sharks poached him..) - just needs some time.

Alot of Knights fans would love him back.

Good to see we have bought two centres for next year now. I don't think they will be able to fill Girds and Whatuira's shoes but atleast they are 'decent'. I remember Franze used to be good back in 02 i think it was, solid centre.

He could be a very good buy. I guess well see sooner or later.

I have to say as a Panthers fans Ive been very dissapointed by the clubs managment over the last 6 months.

We've brought in just one new player to the club.....and when that happens no matter what team your talking about....your tend to slide backwards.

Just ask Canberra Fans what happens when a club doesnt go out and try to improve itself.

We needed a center BADLY.....to think the best we can do is Franze.....its not good enough.

umm, RLE, are you ignoring the fact that penrith have lost Lang, Girdler, Fa'aoso, Roberts and Whatuira for about 3 unknown jnrs, Franze and a guy called Luke Dyer

I thought they had to get rid of Amos Roberts because there was no more room under the salary cap?

Disloyal bastards.

I think you'll find they got Franze for ALOT less then what Roberts was going for.
