Penrith....absolutely abysmal. The rot has started, like The Monk predicted...Penrith will struggle.

Where are you now loud mouthed Panfer fans? You suck!!!!

The game went down to the last minute, we lose to a full strength Knights side by six points, and you call that abysmal???

What would you call the roosters effort then in the GF of 2003, when you lost by 12???

I bet if Souths pull off the upset on Sunday night, you'll never show your dumbass self in these parts again!!!

Regardless of how many mistakes there were in the game (and there was a few), no-one made more mistakes than Mander. He had a shocker. Hard to say how the game would have gone if he made fewer mistakes, but from where I sat, Knights got the majority of the benefit.

The one that annoyed me the most was the call on Gower for a knock-on when he regathered a spilt ball from Newcastle in the 74th minute.

Anyway, it may or may not have made a difference but still a great match.

Sloppy marker defence cost us in the first half. Your marker defence has to be spot on when your playing a bloke like Buderus. Bedsy was the best player on the field last night, and made us pay a few times.

On the positive side, Joel Clinton was great, and T and Joe both had good games. I still don't think Waterhouse is mobile enough to play lock. Rodney played very well when he was out there, he should be wearing the #13.

Mander was by far the worst performer on the field. He made some disgraceful decisions.

To go down by 6 points to a full strength Newcastle side is by no means a bad performance. BTW Big Mick, I take offence to your comments about us sucking last night. We've played a lot worse than that in the past and won games. And also, if you actually read my posts, I don't bag the Roosters team, I comment about a few of their players being over-rated, which they are, and bag their supporters. I actually think the Roosters are a good side and have a lot of respect for them as a football team.. So don't compare me to their dim-wit supporters they just like to bag our team.

I was disappointed last night with the result, and I do think that the Knights thoroughly deserved their win.

HOWEVER, the rot has not started. It's not as though we were smashed, and I don't think we struggled either - we were just outclassed. We were good enough to get the points, but the Knights scrambling defence on their own line was great.

And Tim Mander had a dead set shocker. He has got to have a bit of a look around and see how many Knights players were creeping out of the defensive line before the Panthers player got a chance to play the ball.

But congratulations Newcastle.

Question: Why didnt they try to put Rooney on the outside of Tahu with the ball in his hand instead of kicking? Dropsey played the last 30min on one leg and made Adam Woolnough look like Patrick Johnson for pace.

I was sitting there thinking "they'll go left soon, then they'll go left again and the match will be over". A hard game where both teams gave it their all and looked buggered at the whistle.

We definately missed Girdler against the Knights. Whatuira and Lewis had very little penetration in attack, and didn't make any space for our wingers. Galea isn't up to first grade yet. They should have put Rodney in the centres.

I think Lewis and Rooney play as a better combination when Lewis plays in the centres. But i guess Langy keeps them on opposite sides for the advantage in the leaps which didnt pay off last night.

I thought Joel had a big night too and as much as i like House i am with you Fibro on Rodney. I didnt take much notice but was wondering if the boys alternated between the Lock position at all during the night?

Geez what's with your quote of a conversation between us doing in Kurt Sherlock's signature? :?

Well Mander was just as big a goose as always (but I expected that)........and we lost by 6 points........big whoop......who cares.

It was only game one........and I am just so happy that the new season has started.

I got to go to Penrith stadium and watch a fantastic game of footy, where both sides gave it there all for 80 minutes.

At the full time siren there were 34 buggered blokes out there who had fun, and
nearly 20,000 fans who enjoyed every minute of the game.

What the hell more could anyone want ???? I had a fantastic night. And we had wins in
both lower grades.

Life is good..........and I can't wait to go down to Canberra next Friday night to watch
the guys go around again.

GOD I LOVE MY FOOTY.

It was a fantastic game to watch and as per usual Danny played with that fire that has made him my fave player... Mick I told you we would win heheh. It was a good effort buy you guys... I'm so happy with Newcastle's defence though... we held you guys off for 6 consectutive sets and that's not easy to do. Good Luck against Canberra next week.

I think we can turn the loss into a positive. Dont be surprised to see Amos Roberts in the starting lineup against Canberra. He had a good game in the lower grades. He has got ' class ' written all over him. House will definately have more impact off the bench. Langy needs to have either one of the ' hairbears ' on the field at all times

Langy did that last year too. He had both hairbears and Joel off the field at the same time, and we struggled during that period of the game.

Some of the marker defence was terrible from us. Hopefully Langy will address that too in training. Woolford will hurt us too if we are sloppy around the rucks.
