I tend to agree, I didn’t really see the performances to match the hype.

Hope we’re wrong and he develops into a superstar.

I will never rule out a 19 year old

BUT

Ivan wants defence 1st. Talagi struggles there

McLean is younger and in our system for longer so rightfully higher up.

Tago is locked up for a few years

We aren't going to pay a winger that much.

Cole despite his minor injuries he seems to find every few weeks. Is locked up until 2027, has played far more 6 in all grades.

Hopefully Blaize is right to play NSW Cup next week and can fight his way into the side in the back end of the year

maybe Cole and Talagi are both seen as equal talents where Ivan and co wanted another Burton v Luai scenario to partner Cleary.

Schneider's ceiling appears to be reached - he's the better defender than Cole or Talagi, but he offers little in attack whereas the other 2 have something to offer.

Cole & Talagi competing for that 6 jersey is only a good thing to us, its sounds better than Cole v Schneider

I think ivan didn't want to go into rd 1 with 2 halves coming back from shoulder surgery. You can carry 1 but not 2,talagis defence would be a worry after shoulder surgery so cole was the smarter option. My only issue with cole is he dummies and goes himself most of the time.He needs to give the backs more ball.We have so much strike power out wide and he doesn't distribute to our outside backs.Cole is a good defender I'll give him that but he hasn't got much attack in him.Laurie is cover for both Edwards and cleary if 1 was to go down hurt. With garner in the centres they probably didn't want to start the season playing 2 rookie wingers in the McLean boys.It looks like a very defensive team.Hope we can score a few points on this smaller field. Our match fitness and execution might be slightly off as none of the 1st graders have played a trial. The coaches probably didn't want to risk injuring anyone else before heading to vegas but it might backfire.Hoping we play well and win but anything is possible come Sunday.

I think you're right about the halves. If Cole does well, it might be hard to unseat him too.

Also agree about putting Garner in the centre, I think a sound move.

I'm expecting the gummies to be at their grubby best. Penrith as others have already mentioned perhaps short of a gallop.

Hoping for a Penrith win, but like always not cofident.
