Brian Smith today named the team to play the Wests Tigers in Round One.
That team is:

1. Wade McKinnon
2. Luke Burt
3. Daniel Wagon
4. Timana Tahu
5. Eric Grothe
6. John Morris
7. Tim Smith
8. Paul Stringer
9. Mark Riddell
10. Adam Peek
11. Chad Robinson
12. Nathan Cayless (c)
13. Glenn Morrison

14. PJ Marsh
15. Dean Widders
16. Nathan Hindmarsh
17. Aaron Cannings
18. Matt Petersen
19. Henry Perenara

I hope you guys are ready for a whooping cos that is the strongest team Parra have fielded since 2001...

Riddell and Smith in particular looked very sharp against the Magpies last Friday. Big pack too. I think it was Robinson against us that was ripping in.

I know lots of Tigers fans are talking it up big time, but I can't see it myself. Trials against Premier League sides are one thing, but Pig's class shone and Smith was impressive. Parra were playing the game at great pace and with real cohesion which would indicate a very well spent off season. It will be a really interesting game to get a fair dinkum gauge on how both clubs are travelling.

The Eels will put the Wests Tigers in their place.

I've recently put $250 on the Tigers getting the spoon. After this game my payout will be one week closer.

Hindy is coming back from injury and is no certainty to play. If he does though you can bet London to a brick he'll start in place of probably Robinson. I agree on Peterson though. He was also very strong in last Friday's trial. Made some crunching hits. Playing for the Yanks doesn't look like it hurt him too much. I'd have him before Burt most days ending in y. Doubly so when they've got pig to kick.

I think the only reason Burt is in ahead of Petersen is simply his kicking ability ... remembering Riddell will spend some time off the field and whilst morrison, smith and morris can all kick there percentages are much less than Burts...

Tahu, Grothe, Morrison and Smith can all kick

Morrison actually has over an 80% conversion rate as well which is better than Burt's - but I think the main reason he has been selected is because of his pace - he will probably be matching up against either Richards or Rieck and both arn't exactly the slowest players going around!

It will be an interesting game to say the least. Most of the team haven't played for two weeks at least where your boys have had a game the week before. If Skandalis makes it on the field it will help your cause as our forwards this year, I hope, are our main strength. Seems Tim thinks so as well....

our forwards seem a bit light to me. Jobson better start performing and show a bit of promise, something he hasn't done yet in the NRL.

When has Grothe ever kicked a goal??? and come to think of it .. when has Tahu?

I have seen Grothe kick in PL for both Parra and the Roosters over the last few years

Tahu has kicked 2 from 2 for the Knights in first grade as well as slotting them over in PL (I remember him kicking some from the sideline against Balmain years back) but with Johns in the side who needs a goal kicker???

Parra always struggle against the Tiges, no matter where, when or position on the table.

Should be a good game.
