Nathan Davis gets play underway and his kick is fielded on the 10m line. The Saints shift the ball to their left where Davis makes a tackle. HE comes out of it a bit ginger but is able to get back to the defensive line.

The Dragons the roll it in behind from 35m out where French traps it with his foot and turn the ball to Miski. The Dragons aim up in their first defensive set of the half and the Dockar-Clay has to boot it deep downfield on the last where it is taken on the full.

Not much doing for the Dragons in reply to be honest. The ruck it into our half and put up a nothing bomb towards Miski who does not even have to leave the ground to take it.

Bit of a lull in the game at the moment as both teams trade completed sets.

It is broken when the Dragons get a contentious penalty late in their count for a strip. They will play get a full attacking set in our red zone but some willing defence drives them into touch! Great effort from Oloapu and Miski down our left.

Good charge from Kaufusi who is fresh on late in the set as he careens over the half way line. ZDC looks to send the bomb up in his wake but it is well off the mark - first time tonight actually - and both teams let it bounce where it then takes a wicked turn for the St George goal line. Their fullback cleans it up but Davis ropes him in and throws him to the ground.

Slice of luck for Parra as the Dragons lose the pill working it out!

We take it to the right from the scrum win. Davis tries to create a 2-on-1 for Gafa but the defence shift well to cover it.

Brandon Raeli has a strong run to the line and goes close to scoring. He is pulled down short and from there we move it to the left where Doolan rolls it in behind. It gets a deflection off a defender and becomes a mad scramble for the pill as it stops on the goal line.

St George somehow recover the ball and get into the field of play. Close stuff.

They then show some balls later in that set as they run it on the last. Parra scramble pretty well and look to have shut it down but I think Fuimaono is pinged for a knock on as he attempts a tackle.

Saints go on the attack as they build pressure down our right edge. They eventually look for the face ball across the defensive line but Davis reads it well and plucks it out of the air. Not a clean take mind you and he has a second effort at it before securing the ball and he races down field.

A bit surprising but he hasn't got the legs to go the distance. He is caught ~15m into the the Dragons' half abut picks up a penalty as he cops a high shot from the second tackler. Alas we quickly turn the ball over from the restart. Classic 20s.

The Saints finally find some space to work in and race down the field but lose their wits on the last and are caught with out a clue as to the tackle count.

They compound the matter by immediately conceding a penalty from the resultant ruck.

Our starting props are back on and it shows as Twal and company make some big gains in the ruck. We storm into the red zone and Josh Grant jumps out of dummy half and nearly slices through. French races up on his left and Grant looks for the offload. He gets it away but French can not hold onto it and a try goes begging!

What is worse is that Grant looks to have copped a hefty concussion from the run.

The pace of the game slows down a bit after those end to end exchanges.

Saints get through their set and bomb it to our goal line where French takes it well but is quickly accosted by two defenders and is brought down.

Parra get through their set with Izzard coming on to replace Grant. French is the kick option and he gets it in behind the back three and a good chase traps the Dragons there.

They venture down their right edge from deep in the half and find an overlap. They kick it ahead but French is on point to clean it up.

We then get a penalty a couple of tackle later as the ball is reefed out blatantly.

Jack Morris has a terrific charge and picks up a second penalty.

We spin it to our right where Clay cuts out to Gafa but he has little option but to take the tackle. Next tackle we go to the other edge where Morris is used on crash ball and following that Clay tries to roll it into the posts for a try or repeat set but the Dragons clean it up before the goal line AND we are done for an offside chaser.

Woo, that was close. St George has numbers down our left and get the ball to their winger with a marginal cut out ball. He is going to get driven into touch and he flings it back in field on the try line where it is intercepted by the Eels. Oloapu the man I think there.

We do well to drive it close to halfway and Clay then finds the carpet with his kick. Good set all things considering.

However the Saints go one better this set. They get the overlap down our left edge once again and although French jams on the runner he throws a crazy long cut out ball back to his left where he picks out a supporting player who strolls over for the first points of the second half. Getting caught out down that edge now.

The conversion is unsuccessful from next to the sticks.

The Dragons trail 8-12

68min gone.

The Dragons aim for a 40/20 from the kickoff set but French gets across with plenty of time to stop it.

Fuimaono has a good carry and play the ball which gives ZDC some time to jump out of hooker. Grant is actually back on as well.

We bomb it down our left edge and the Dragons get a very god take from their winger before he actually makes a line break on a looping run. Blatant shepherd in there though but no call. French jams on him and lays him out in a beaut of a tackle though.

Momentum with St George now though. They rumble down field but to our fortune make an error late in the set.

French is called upon again to tidy up an attacking kick. This time it is a grubber in behind our right edge. He gets there ahead of three chasers and takes the tackle. The Dragons lift him up and drive him in goals but the ref is having none of it and blows a penalty.

We get to our kick where ZDC mistimes his bomb. French was racing through sniffing around for the contest but it falls far too quickly for him to get there.

The Dragons get a penalty on their second tackle now, we will be up against it this set I think.

As I type that Davis drills a runner down our right edge. Gets up dusty again though.

And again! Davis lifting this set big time as he rings up his second big shot of the set - this one on the goal line.

The Saints lose their way after it a bit and opt for a poor grubber that is tidied up by Oloapu down our left.

We get a very much needed penalty as we work out that comes from a lifting tackle.

Good run from Twal. He is followed by Fuimaono as we use him on the sweep down the right. We come back to the left with French who is tackled but gets an offload away. Sadly no one from his team is watching and Raeli has to race back to clean it up.

Think it is Grant on the next tackle that rolls out of hooker and kicks in it ingoals. Great kick actually and French flies through! He is right in it for the ball but the ref rules that is is batted dead. That was wicked close.

Bit of panic there as French stays down for a minute but he is right after that and we resume play for the drop out.

The repeat set proves to be enough with 2min on the clock as they kick it mid range. Mad call given that they are behind by four but I am happy with it. We get the pill and eventually close out the game. We shift it to the left and find French who doesn't act as the focal point this time but rather uses Oloapu who throws a great ball to Miski. Enough time and space for him to crash over and seal the deal!

Davis nails it from the sideline.

Clicky

Interesting movements in the 20s this week. We have two new additions to the club in Mason Cerruto and Fairouz Elkander. Eagle-eyed forumites spotted the additions of Elkander and Frank Salu last week but Cerruto is a brand new surprise. Mason joins the Eels by way of the Tigers and has experience at fullback as well as in the centres. Has some leadership chops as well after captaining the Balmain SG Ball squad in 2014.

Cerruto makes his club debut in place of Nathan Davis. No clue on the status of Davis who slotted an 80th minute conversion against the Dragons last week.

Izzard shuffles into the halves with Michael Doolan dropping out of the team which in turn opens up the slot on the bench for Elkander.

James Gammidge is 18th man but will presumably be the individual to drop off the bench seeing as he provides no cover in the forwards.
