Is he ever a long term option or paid to get systems in place ? When you get a guy like him you milk him for all his knowledge as long as you can. Agree he'll end up with a higher paid gig closer to home, but how good to have him there for these few years ?

Not trying to be a negative nelly Gronky but I would have thought people that are strong performers should be a priority to keep in the system. Maybe thats our plan. Fingers crossed but more likely we'll punt Brown and hand the keys to a Cayless. Its how weve rolled. As a great man once said, "the future is ahead of us"!

It’s not that we would punt him. We’d know if he was doing a good job. The problem is richer clubs would also know it.

How long have we been hearing it??? Remember when we got an academy??? We’ve been hearing it all the way back to the late 80’s. So forgive a few of us who aren’t whipping our dicks out in celebration. And even if we do have a gun crop we’ve still got Bea Arthur for two more seasons.

Did we ever get it, or are we still building it? Is it the centre of excellence, or is that the academy v2.0?

Pou used to carry on deluxe here about having/getting an academy... but I'm not sure it exists, or if it does that it made an ounce of difference.

I don’t think the intent to build the club is enough. Turns out we need resources as well. Whatever Academy we had seems to have peaked in 2017 when we won SG Ball and were runners up in under 20s. Then the resources were switched off by Mad Max and the fiscal responsibility Nazis.

At the moment they call it JETS. It's just another name for a club's junior 'development' system, but 'Academy' is widely used and a bit more self-explanatory than some random acronym. The question isn't around the existence of the academy but rather how well resourced it is. Results from a few years ago suggest it was pretty well resourced at the time we got sprung spending money outside the cap that should've been spent inside it. Or maybe the good results were just down to luck?
