It does make sense actually. Our backline depth is so lacking , its wild that in 2024 ,we still have Haze Dunster and a relative of someone good on the wing in reserve grade and poor Zac Cini.

Dunster went off today with an ankle injury will probably be gone a few weeks..

Tago actually looked good on the wing today he and Sivo should be the wingers next game in CUP with Harper and Cini at centre.

Our club is terrible at talent identification... Martin has some good skills showed them today but our club will pick Lumelume ahead of him.. go figure

Cini shouldn’t even be picked in any position, he was outshone by a St Mary’s RMC player and a 21 year old playing his first game at that level. He is wasting a space, not that there appears to anything in Flegg to push through at the moment. On reflection it’s harsh but wouldn’t pick him anywhere.

If Dunster plays next week you could have.

Martin
Sivo
Harper
Tago
Dunster

3 of those players I wouldn't want at the club next season though...

But as mentioned talent identification is terrible at our club internally...

Martin played well today made some errors but should have been playing since round 1 instead of Lumelume .

Dunster was on crutches at Full-time on the field after FG i doubt he will be playing next week.

A few players missing from Flegg today..

Going up to CUP?
Toni Mataeli is out cos he was on the injury list.

I can’t see that any have been dropped to Ron Massey. Do you get dropped from Flegg to Ron Massey ?

The cabramatta Sydney cup game was postponed yesterday. No names in that list.

Unlikely. Flegg is more closely connected to the NRL club than whichever RM team they get loaned out to. Though I think we've had Flegg-eligible players appear in RM Cup in the past. It's just uncommon. Probably a way to push unwanted players out of the club without falling foul of fair work laws or whatever.

Huh...

Yes if you don't get picked in the Flegg side you will most likely play in RMC to get game time.

Happened last year for a few players.

Will happen for some Flegg eligible players when the Ball kids come up.

Agreed, I was talking about the players on fulltime contracts. The rest of them have no future in the game, and don't bear thinking about. It's depressing, seeing them having their dreams shattered like the rest of us.

So the final score was close, and that's good enough I reckon.

Yep I am fine with losing the lower grades so long as we develop some more players that are champion first graders.

I read a great post on another site recently. Everyone thought it was insightful and I shall reproduce it here without attribution because f**k that guy:

Don't forget Flegg is under 21s these days. When I was a kid, Flegg was under 19s and under 21s was Presidents Cup. They got rid of Presidents Cup because the best 20/21 year olds were playing against grown men in reserves or first grade. That's still the case. Look at our NRL team. The only one who hadn't played reserve grade by the year they turned 21 was Sivo, who lived overseas. Most of them had played NRL by 21.
