Not true. I find Harold Matts to be meaningless. Just kids waiting for the Roosters or Storm to offer a contract.

Certainly winning Ball and Matt's doesn't mean too much on the overall scheme of it.

But winning Ball does show you what players will step up to Flegg though..

Winning it in 23 we had a lot come through same with making the GF in 25 another group coming up.

Westfield Sports had a come from behind win against Hills Sport in the PMC.
If I remember correctly W'fields are now coached by former first grade coach Demetriou so it would have been humiliating in the extreme for him if they bowed out with a 0-2 start in the group stage given their achievements over the last few years. It is still a bad performance so far from a coach with his credentials.

In fairness to any coach, if you don't have the players you're not going to win.

We only appear to want to give Matterson a game when we have to. Subsequently, he appears to only want to play when he feels like it.

Brown is dreadful and well over paid.

Paulo is well passed it and well over paid for what he provides.

Take off the Blue and Gold goggles. If these were all better players we wouldn't be running 2nd last.

No Blue and Gold goggles bud, I did say some of them were totally out of form, but you were talking about our squad being the worst in the comp - with that many recent rep players it isnt a matter of the squad composition, its a matter of their current form. If all of them were in form and pushing for rep selection, would you still claim it was the worst in the comp?

The worst players on the field have a huge influence as well. Don’t just consider the stars.

If all of them were in form and pushing for rep selection, would you still claim it was the worst in the comp?

It's ridiculous to say that Hopgood, Paulo and Matterson are rep players. In my view they will never ever remotely find that form that made them rep players, so they are what they are currently, not in the past.

You can add others to the ordinary over paid list...Penisini, Cartwright, Lane, and Lussick would all be on starting 13 money delivering nothing, or nothing of value, for the NRL team, that a 15 game rookie can't provide.

We're continually paying blokes outside the Top 30, ahead of uninjured Top 17 contracted players.

This is a dreadful squad. The worst in the comp by a fair margin in my view.

Outside of Moses, Lomax, Foxx, and Walker, the rest are either over paid providing f**k all, or less than 20 game rookies that you don't expect to be any more than 20 game rookies.

I'd have Junior comfortably in our top 3 players this year . Coming into this season I would have most definitely agreed with you though....

I think we have the core of a good roster but its littered with a lot of rookies. Its going to be hard for us to compete consistently week to week with so many young blokes. Any first grade coach would tell you the same thing.

What we have been producing over the last 5-6 weeks at least has given me the confidence that each week I know we should be at least competitive against anyone we come up against.
