PARRAMATTA Leagues chairman Roy Spagnolo has defended the board from criticism of interference in player movement, the sacking of Daniel Anderson and high-ranking officials.
Spagnolo, whose ``3P’’ ticket defeated previous chief executive Denis Fitzgerald’s at the club elections in 2009, wrote to Leagues Club members to explain recent actions.
In his letter, Spagnolo said Anderson’s exit arose from a review of the football club by chief executive Paul Osborne and directors Geoff Gerard and Glenn Duncan, also Pirtek’s executive director.
Spagnolo said Anderson wanted his contract extended beyond next year or paid out.
The Eels decided on the latter.
Spagnolo said it was Anderson’s decision to release Krisnan Inu, Kris Keating and Feleti Mateo, and sign Reni Maitua, who is serving a drugs suspension, and Carl Webb.
``At no time was there any board interference,’’ Spagnolo wrote.
His letter comes ahead of the football club elections in December and leagues club elections in April. Spagnolo also explained the dismissal of key staff at the club.
``It has been suggested that individuals’ employment contracts with the club have been terminated by the club as an act of revenge, presumably against Mr Fitzgerald,’’ he said.
``Nothing could be further from the truth.’‘
Spagnolo alleged many of the sacked staff were involved in a secret project using club resources and time to influence members to vote for Fitzgerald’s ticket.
Sacked staff included Leagues Club chief executive Tullio Cofrancesco, chief operating officer John Kolc and corporate business manager Sharon Wilson.

I still find it ridiculous that they are claiming Webb and matuia are da signings. He was a shot duck ages ago, no way would they have allowed those signings. Shut up clauses in da terms and conditions of payout won't allow us to determine the truth. Some more spin from our board. Maybe they could of helped out ponting in India, cause they are doing jack sh*t in parramatta.

Re: the team in turmoil, I heard Kate McClymont (SMH journo) on the radio this morning say that she will be publishing investigative pieces on Spagnolo & Co in the near future.

Wasn't she doing something similar a while back?

It rings a bell...

i was under the impression that earlier in the year kk had agreed to terms and just needed to put pen to paper (and anderson had also stated he was in the long term plans as one of our halfs). from memory someone (it may have been stagger) posted, i paraphrase and please correct me if i am wrong, that after the eventual signing had been prolonged for too long and kk eventually decided he would go to the dogs.

other comments by our board that da had complete control over recruiting but he was somehow kept out of negotiations with quade cooper as well as comments earlier in the year and last year (from terry) about having a ceo that is controlled by the board and not vice verca as was the case when df was around but then (the board) claiming osborne went to melbourne of his own accord to suss out kearney make me think there is plenty of b.s. in what is being reported. just how it seems to me anyway.

Yeah she did a article on them a while ago but nothing has come of it. I think she tried to get them into trouble with ATO and then accused Parra of rorting the cap through property deals??? I think......

If your a group of Italians and you hang out together then you must be Mafia

But we'll see what she has to write this time..... She's a crime reporter so Spags better watch out

IIRC She was heavily involved reporting the Dogs @ Coffs Harbour dramas and broke the Dogs Salary Cap rorts. So she is familiar with the way NRL clubs work.

is this to do with parra or his private business, it has been alleged that his company has been investigated to do with things that have nothing to do with his involvement in the club.

Kate McClymont keeps her cards close to her chest BAE, but she did make reference to the Dec and April elections. It seems that all her energies were on the Michael McGurk investigation and now she will turn to other matters.

Investigation notwithstanding, if we have no skeletons in our closet then we will have nothing to fear.

Even if we donated our profits to a charity we would still be in the paper for something negative.

And so the mass hysteria continues, just can't wait to see what else they could possibly ' report ' over the next 5 months.

Are we also top of league for being the biggest laughing stock?
Or are we still in the running for 2nd place behind the cowboys.

Is he talking about the 2010 Board Report?
