So, PLC yesterday lodged a DA for the redevelopment of the club, including complete demolition of the existing club. Thank god that hovel will be going.

1 Eels Place & Part 1 Parramatta Park Crown Land, PARRAMATTA
4 storey registered club facility (new Parramatta Leagues Club), 2 storey indoor recreation facility (health and leisure centre) and 8 storey tourist and visitor accommodation building (149 room hotel), including restaurants/cafes, entertainment facility and community facility; additional external vehicular ramp to existing car park; additional service driveway to the rear of existing car park; public domain works and landscaping including new public plazas; and business identification signage zones; following demolition of the existing Parramatta Leagues Club building and site clearing. The application includes licensed premises.

So they are expecting a mid-2028 completion on the new leagues club and mid-2030 for the hotel.

I mentioned them in the OP.
I hope not.
Btw, this is a significantly scaled down version of what was first proposed.
The pushback to the original proposal came from some Nth Parramatta Action group, some of whom would no doubt also be part of the FOPP.

I’m yet to come across a “Friends of…” group that hasn’t ended up becoming an enemy.

Hopefully common sense prevails and the development goes ahead.

In future Sydney metro planning maps, there's actually a proposed line from Miranda through Kogarah through Bankstown to Parramatta and up to Norwest to meet the M1.
