This is probably common knowledge but I was interested to hear (from my Stowe Guy:wink:) that the new stadium meets the FIFA standards to hold World Cup games. Apparently the requirements are pretty rigorous and the drainage of the surface is second to none. He also said that in the event of power being cut the facility will be fully operational within 30 seconds. Pretty impressive stuff.

Went through the plant and electrical switch rooms while there, also viewed some servers near the coaches and tv boxes, technology around the stadium is the latest and best.
Hence why all the corporate is on one side.
After playing a few games against us, many more teams will want to use the stadium.

Ch9 reporter was interviewing Arfur Daley just now about the Stadiums. Arfur now says that SFS and ANZ rebuild / reconfiguration will proceed. Reporter says but you said that NSW taxpayers won’t be paying for this. Daley says that they’re not bc we (or the trusts ?) are going to borrow the money. Reporter asked WTF does that mean. Arfur says thats my secret.

Ok I was paraphrasing, but thats the gist of the conversation.

Thanks Gronk.

So -

  • The govt has wasted 14 billion eh? Where are his figures to back that up?
  • Knock down and rebuild hospitals 20 times. More political bullshit.
  • Cancelling the Bankstown metro extension from Sydenham project is insane. Doesn't he realise that this is going to free up more space on the City Circle Lines which will increase services to the city on other lines? Also cancelling the Northern Beaches Motorway.
  • So he claims that he'll divert the money into 'bigger and better projects". So which projects are those Michael? Please tell us?
  • Sporting clubs and where they play don't matter eh? Schools and hospitals are more important. Well, of course they are important. They'll have over $120 billion spent on them in the time it takes to renovate and rebuild Allianz and ANZ in the next 5 years. How is $2 Billion on stadiums going to make that much difference? A "Royal Commision" style investigation to see where the money was wasted? Ok then. Another populist and shallow claim.
  • Let's also not ignore the billions being spent on transport infrastructure Mr Daley.
  • His laughable claims that the SCG Trust and ANZ will be able to pay back loans for rebuilds are completely unsubstantiated. No evidence to back up his claims other than "we've spoken to people". f**king lol.
The guy is full of shit. Desperate to be elected as all politicians are. He has no substance other than empty promises in the hope what he says will wash with the stupid public. It may very well work, but not with this little black duck.

For the record...…

EIGHT MAJOR RAIL PROJECTS FOR SYDNEY

New rail links across the north western suburbs to Castle Hill, from Hurstville to Strathfield and high speed links to Newcastle, the Central Coast and Wollongong are among eight major rail projects to be built in Sydney by 2010.

...............

"This fully funded rail blueprint will deliver eight new rail lines by 2010, providing links will areas of Sydney where the population has expanded rapidly and where future urban growth is forecast to boom," Mr Scully said.

...............

The rail plan features:

A $360 million rail extension from Epping to Castle Hill by 2010, with potential to be extended to Mungerie Park and Rouse Hill after 2010.

A $800 million line linking major growth centres at Strathfield and Hurstville to be commenced in 2010.

A $30 million Y Link at Liverpool, allowing direct services between Fairfield and Hurstville for the first time.

A $800 million high speed rail link from Hornsby to Newcastle the first stage of which would be completed by 2007 with further work to Newcastle commenced by 2010.

A $287 million high speed rail link from Sutherland to Wollongong by 2010.

"These projects will build on those major projects which are already under construction or in the planning phases, such as the $1.4 billion Parramatta Rail Link to Chatswood via Epping, the $700 million New Southern Railway connecting the airport and the CBD and the Bondi Beach Railway," Mr Scully said.

Epping to Castle Hill line - cancelled then brought back as a proposal to start maybe some time in the late 2010s
Strathfield to Hurstville line - cancelled
Liverpool Y-link - cancelled
High speed line to Newcastle - cancelled
High speed line to Wollongong - cancelled
Parramatta to Chatswood line - Partially constructed, opened 2009
Airport line - Opened in 2000
Bondi Beach extension - cancelled

Labor has such a strong record on infrastructure. Lol Michael.
And I'm supposed to believe the bullshit from that story above?
I can only vote on what I have seen, and the current govt is killing it and getting this city the infrastructure we need. I'm not falling for Labors bullshit again.
