Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

I did that at Cabramatta Pool. Couldn't give a shit if they tore that down.

So no, I don't get it. Sentimental memories and stuff are nice, but removing the building doesn't destroy those memories, they'll still be there after the concrete is gone.

I shed a invisible tear every time I drive past that monstrosity of an LG factory at Eastern Creek thinking about my childhood days on the Bush Beast & Snowy River Rampage. I get connections to places. But I also get that like everything in life, things change.

I was happy the day they tore that death trap down.. (I have a morbid fear or roller-coasters).

I do often have some feels when driving past the old wonderland site as well, had some good times there. But it not being there doesn't diminish the times I had before.

Maybe they can have a button just for you so you can make the roof roll back mate ?

Hell my daughters school has a wooden floor that covers the pool when they need it for concerts.

So how about we lock in a push button roof and floor for concerts. Anything else ?
"Safe standing" areas!

I save that for crowded places.

WESTERN  Sydney sports fans could claim a souvenir from Parramatta Stadium before it is demolished.

Former stadium tenants Parramatta Eels and Western Sydney Wanderers will join sporting and community groups from across NSW in applying for seats and other items during the venue’s decommissioning process.

Parramatta Stadium is significant to fans of both clubs as the Eels played at the arena for 30 years and Western Sydney won A-League and Asian Champions League finals at the fortress. A 30,000-seat venue will replace Parramatta Stadium so that more fans can go to Eels and Wanderers home games.

A Wanderers spokesman told the Advertiser if they were successful in obtaining seats the club would create a ballot for its fans. Foundation members would get priority.

The Eels are also interested in seats. One fan walked out of Parramatta’s last game at the venue with their seat, but it was taken off them by police.

Parramatta fan Troy Worner, who has a Parra Cave full of Eels memorabilia, said the blue and gold faithful would be interested in claiming anything from the stadium.

“I never sat in the same seat because I was in general admission, but there are some fans who have become attached to their seats as they sat in the same seats for 20 to 30 years,” Mr Worner said.

“Many people sat in the same seats and they will want to keep the seats as a memento. I actually would like to try to get some of the grass and put it on display, or put it in the backyard.”

An Eels spokesman said the club was also interested in keeping the grandstand signs that paid tribute to club legends Ken Thornett, Mick Cronin, Peter Sterling and Brett Kenny.

The stadium is set to be demolished by the end of this year, and the NSW Government will soon start allocating items to sporting and community groups as part of the process. Venues NSW, the government body that manages Parramatta Stadium, is encouraging sporting groups to apply.

“The decommissioning plan is expected to be finalised by November and will consider the disposal of the various assets on the site including seating,” a Venues NSW spokesman said.

“There has already been strong interest from football clubs into acquiring seats for suburban and regional grounds, and other useful items.”

It's more the seat frames than the seats. Most of them are still good just not the ones from the Northern hill.

I was told Manly were interested in a heap for Brooky.

Give the seats and whatever else is usefull to the regional or suburban grounds so they can be put to good use rather than sitting in someones backyard. It's a piece of plastic FFS
Plenty of regional grounds have ethier no seating or old splinter in bum bench seats, send them to some regional areas.
