think this was a thing a decade or so ago - the "clearways" project/s
seems that was put aside and investment has gone into creating new metro lines rather than upgrades to the Sydney trains network
Unfortunately, that is a fallacy created by Labor. It's completely untrue.

Another loss for Minns. The 2 year delay in this project is going to cost the state billions.
Now, can he just get on with continuing to build the metro and get it finished!!!!!!

I fully support the need to continue to develop housing options in accessible areas like Rosehill, however we need to also have community facilities nearby to our CBD. Rosehill was/is more than just a racecourse and is used for everything from large and small exhibitions, function rooms for weddings and other events, etc. and is 5 mins on a tram from Parramatta CBD. To the west of the city we have a world class stadium, to the east we have a world class racetrack - leave the f**ker alone.

That's a pretty black and white option, to suit the... never mind.

Sydney has four racetracks - Randwick, Rosehill, Warrick Farm and Canterbury.

Racing is a niche elite sport, which drags in the working class as gambling fodder to keep the whole ponzi scheme going. The younger generations want very little to do with it because... animal welfare and gambling.

Racing in all its various animal forms is dying a slow death. Racing doesn't need four racetracks in Sydney, but Sydney does need more housing....

Suit the who? Why not finish the sentence?

I don't gamble but have been to Rosehill for a number of exhibitions and functions so its multi-purpose use suits me and obviously many others.

It was just a reference to the sentence you had just posted in another thread...

Fair enough. Each to their own,but I think the site is perfect for much needed housing. They could probably even keep the grandstand and function rooms if that's the main attraction/benefit to the status quo.

No one has EVER claimed that the Metro is infallible.
Difference being that if the metro has problems, it effects ................the Metro.
Yes, just the Metro service, not all of the Sydney Rail system.

On the other hand.....

NSW establishes three-person panel to review Sydney Trains network
The New South Wales government has appointed a three-person panel to conduct its a “short and sharp” review of the Sydney Trains network in the wake of the commuter chaos that swept the city one week ago.
The premier, Chris Minns, said the review would look for improvements to maintenance, punctuality and communication with passengers after a live wire with enough voltage to instantly kill a human fell on top of a train, trapping 300 passengers onboard and grinding nearly all heavy rail lines across the network to a halt.
The expert panel will be made up of Carolyn Walsh, a former chief executive of the NSW Independent Transport Safety and Reliability Regulator; Kerry Schott, a former head of Sydney Water; and Trevor Armstrong, a former Ausgrid CEO.
While Walsh led a review of the network’s infrastructure and systems in 2023, the NSW transport minister, John Graham, said this review would not be a do-over:

From The Guardian live news blog

So, after Haylen's (where is she now?) much heralded Rail Repairs Project announced 18 months ago, the system is still no better off and requires yet another review after yet another rail system meltdown. FMD. After 100's of millions of $$ has been spent.
Add to that the ATC vote yesterday which has kyboshed Minns' plans for a station at Rosehill and kicked the can down the road for the completion of West Sydney Metro for another 2 years, which has ensured that that project will also cost more.
When it comes to transport infrastructure, Labor just has no clue.

Sure, some good points etc.

But who in the Liberals has the clue about transport infrastructure? Was it David Elliot? Andrew Constance? Gladys? Because they're all long gone.

And isn't it the same heads of transport departments that generally continue for the duration of their contracts, regardless of which party is elected...

Blaming Labor as a generalisation kind of displays a lack of understanding of how things work, in the absence of being able to explain how the Libs would somehow have a clue... or dare I say it, even an agenda or bias?
