Parramatta Stadium Rebuild and other stuff

Yes, you are correct. No extra or underground parking is planned.
What you see is currently, what we'll get.
The pool carpark, the one in the north west corner that you mentioned, and the proposed soon to be built Leagues Club carpark.
I don't think that's a bad situation to be honest.
You don't want too much parking in the stadium precinct itself. It only adds to game day congestion and with a larger proposed capacity, this will only increase.
There's plenty of subsidiary parking in the city centre and streets in north and east Parramatta, also Westmead for those coming from the west.
Also, I think they hope a lot of patrons may use the proposed light rail, which is still a few years away yet.
I like the fact that the stadium is surrounded by plenty of landscaping as well as entertainment options, rather than concrete carparks.

Dont get me wrong, i like the idea of an entertainment precinct too... though with a capacity of just over 19k the local streets were filled 3 hours before kickoff. The main area for parking was the $5 parking in Cumberland Hospital though i think this will go with the plans for the North Pmtta precinct so there will effectively be less parking for more patrons.

Good point.... and all the development going on is probably gonna mean more cars parked in streets

I always park in the streets to the north east of church st and victoria road ... i generally only turn up at game time ... these days i have to park down near doyle park - its not gonna get any easier to park

I agree that parking can sometimes be at a premium, but ever since Parramatta Stadium opened in 1986, I've never had an issue.
I too park where Strider parks - east of Church street and north of Victoria rd. In 30 years, have never had a problem finding a spot, although sometimes it is further away than others.
So what if there is a 20 minute walk? For Wanderers games, I normally get there about 2 hrs before kick off, walk down to Eat Street and have a feed, and then head off to the game.
For Wanderers games at Homebush, I started parking in the OP precinct, but that was costing $25 per game day, so now I park at Concord West and take the pleasant stroll through Bi-Centennial Park. Takes about 25 minutes each way and I save $25.

I've never understood the complaining about parking and traffic for Pirtek, but maybe that's because I can easily drive there and home again on minor back roads where traffic isn't a problem. From where I park in Parramatta, it's an easy escape home up through Oatlands and North Rocks with absolutely no traffic encountered ever.

What is your idea of a solution Matt? Another massive carpark that takes an hour to get out of after the game?

It is not an easy one to solve for sure.
I have parked in various places nearby over the years, including Cumberland Hospital, Ross St/Grose St, Fennel St on the eastern side of Church St and more recently in Entrada because the people I sit with live there and I get free parking. When I was working in Chatswood and we had a Fri/Mon night game parking was more of an issue simply due to timing to get to the game (closer was better). Now not so much.

One solution may be to open all council owned carparks in the CBD and run shuttles to the stadium. Maybe even the commuter carparks further afield could have shuttle services to the game, say Granville, Wentworthville, Baulkham Hills, Eastwood. There is a shuttle from Tweed Heads to Titans home games that stops all the way along the southern side of the Gold Coast beaches, this seemed to work. As long as they include a good bus terminus area (like OP) this would be the best way to go. Plus of course the shuttle from Parra Station and the upcoming light rail.

Is the Cumberland Hospital parking going to be ceased?
I've been parking there for 16 years. It has always made it so easy for me to get to the games. Still quite cheap too.
Will be such a shame to see it gone.

That whole area is going to get redeveloped

That's good news, I suppose. But I am pretty worried about how difficult it will be to find a park now.
I already have to find a way to avoid the huge parking fees st homebush for the next couple of years.

NSW Health services are all on that site, isn't it all heritage listed?

Park at Westmead, i started parking there the last few years and the 10 minute walk is worth it because you don't get any congestion on that side. Although i live in the north west so that side is better for me to leave from as well.

Did you not see my attached images above?
Plenty of heritage listed buildings to remain.

Don't take my post to mean i am protective of heritage listed places, i couldn't give a toss about the buildings, as far as i'm concerned knock them all down and use the space for good rather than the crappy buildings and conditions that are there now.

Similar to Gladesville (where i happen to be subjected to for my job) which is a shit hole to actually work at with crappy work conditions due to the heritage listings.

I was just curious about the area and what they will actually be doing to the site. I work for NSW Health and spend time at Westmead and know people who work at the Cumberland site. I also walk through there quite a bit.

Meh they keep a few trees, buildings and walls and its all good

Im no hippy, but i think its nice if they can work in a nice heritage area when they redevelop a site .... not too much, just one main important thing and surround it by a nice bit of green space

They did that with one of our favourite slum ghettos at wolli creek ... kept the church with a really nice park area

I'll be coming in from Rozelle, so the opposite way.
Might be worth going over to that side though. I'll give it a shot, cheers mate.

Then again, if they get the public transport up and running properly by that time I won't have to worry about driving.

Here's a very recent picture of Parramatta, with the new Altitude building almost complete.
You can see that the removal of seats has begun (south terrace and Cronin Stand).
This view of the city will look very different in 3 years time, with multiple similarly tall skyscrapers finished and a new stadium in place.
In fact, Altitude will be almost blocked from this view by the currently under construction Riverside development, as seen in the 2nd photo.

And, just for Twiz, there's the cricket field (Old Kings Oval) on the right of the stadium.

Also, we can see that our resident groundsman has left the site. The pitch looks awful without his care. :)
