I think there's a race going on. Hexham by-pass v Coffs Harbour by-pass projects are due to be completed within 6 months of each other. Hexham is supposed to be the latter of the two being mid 2028. Thoughts?

I am going to Forster for a weekend in April.

I haven't driven through Hexham in about 5-6 years.

How much time will the new bypass cut off when you drive up the coast

If you get a feed from the Anatolia Turkish Cuisine Restaurant in Forster can you let me know what you think of it? We were going to go there last visit but the Chinese on Wharf St got the nod.

The Coffs Harbour Bypass is expected to open to traffic in late 2026 and be fully completed in late 2027. The project is a major upgrade to the Pacific Highway that will bypass the Coffs Harbour CBD.

Project timeline

  • 2016: Consultation with the Coffs Harbour community about the project
  • 2018: Concept design display
  • 2019: Refined design and environmental impact statement
  • 2020: Planning approval
  • 2023: Ongoing vegetation removal, earthworks, and plant and machinery maintenance
  • 2024: Blasting breakthrough of the Gatelys Tunnel, lifting of steel trusses for the Luke Bowen pedestrian bridge, and traffic switches at Bruxner Park Road and Old Coast Road
  • Late 2026: Expected to open to traffic
  • Late 2027: Expected to be fully completed

Project details
  • The bypass will be a four-lane divided motorway
  • It will save motorists time by avoiding up to 12 sets of traffic lights

  • It will reduce the number of vehicles through the city center by about 12,000 a day

  • It is jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments

It's not taking forever.
It's being built through difficult terrain. It started construction about two years ago after years and years of planning and waiting for funding.

Coffs Harbour is a hole. Every traveler drives through it, but everybody at least stops at the Big Banana once in their life. The Botanical Gardens are worth a walk around, so is the foreshore and Muttonbird Island. I certainly wouldn't stay there as a holiday destination.

Owned and run by a German. Proper clogs.

How can they be 'proper clogs' if 'owned and run by a German'
That Thing Head GIF

'Proper clogs' or klompen are made from a single piece of wood and have been part of Dutch culture for centuries.
