Manly Sea Eagles assistant coach Matt Parish will join Ricky Stuart at Paramatta Eels in 2013, turning his back on interest from Wests Tigers for their vacant head coaching role.

Parish was considered the favourite for the head coaching position at the Tigers following long-time mentor Tim Sheens's sacking on Tuesday.


But the Sea Eagles assistant on Thursday announced he would work under Stuart, with the pair having already linked up for NSW at State of Origin level.

I'd say this is probably good news for the Tigers. You wouldn't really want an untested rookie trying to sort out the mess and get things going forward for 2014 and beyond.

I think the best bet would be to find a proven, experienced coach who can settle things down quickly and get the first grade team back on track ASAP.

Did fulton play under Brown in the UK ? He certainly came back a better player from who ever coached him there.

Yeah he did. That one year fulton played under Brown, So obviously Fulton knows first hand the coach he is and obviously is a much different coach now then when he started in the NRL.
I think everyone knew that Brown was going to fail at the Dragons because how close he was to the players and that he played with most of the side.

If Humpty Dumpty and the Brain Trust had gotten their shit sorted earlier we would have had Ricky Stuart and Parrish as our Head Coach and Assistant Coach.....imagine how hectically we would have ripped it. Farah would have gone super saiyan and killed someone on the field but it would have been a completely legal tackle and the entire league would be scared of him and he would dominate everyone everwhere at all times

Yeah. The bloke is a genius. He is bound to get a shot at a first grade shot with all
those spots available.

He obviously isn't in the mix, and nor should he be.

All this tells me is that he wasn't in the running. I highly doubt a coach would reject a head coaching role at a decent side for an assistant role at the biggest basket case in the league under a head coach who has a reputation for being stubborn.

I was coming from the point of view that he left Salford early and on bad terms, if he walks into what is currently a toxic situation at the tiges and gets shafted he is tainted goods and his career is over before it's begun.

Either that or he was never in it all from the start like everyone says and the media have just self-propagated his name from nowhere.
