Passing system in NRL

I reckon having a passing system modified off madden would help in constructing plays and hitting gaps. for example if you press and hold the right trigger button passing icons appear above the players to your right allowing you to choose the player who is in the best position. If you let go of the trigger without choosing a player then you throw a dummy. Same on the left side. The ability of a player to throw cut outs will depend on there passing stat.

Should a sequel to Rugby League appear, hopefully we'll be able to improve the passing system to maintain its responsivenees but provide much more control to the user. Very hard to balance those two things.

a good passing system was in rugby 2001
if there is a line of 4 players 1 2 3 4
if u are player 1 with the ball, to pass it to player 3 just tap the pass right button twice, to pass to player 4 tap pass right 3 times.

the passing on WCR is also very good but would maybe proove to be too arcady for RL and unrealistic. what i don't want to see is 100 different pass options and paused gameplay

I liked the Rugby 2001 passing system, 3 options at the ruck or scrum and markers for who the intended receivers.

Throwing 50 metre cutouts was so cool.

The ideal passing system (for PS2)

At the base of the play the ball (or ruck):
L1/R1 Pass left/right
Tap L1/R1 Pass left/right, but skips players. So one tap L1 goes to first reciever, two taps L1 goes to the next reciever etc.
L2/R2 Pass to a forward running on to it left/right.
L3 (held) Drops a kicker back, then Triangle to pass to this player.

In general play:
L1/R1 Pass left/right
Tap L1/R1 Pass left/right, but skips players. So one tap L1 goes to first man on the left, two taps L1 goes to the next player on the left etc.
Offloading like Rugby League

I like -JJ-'s idea.
Mario, if there is a possible next version you should have a look at his idea because that sounds like it would be fun as hell.
I like the idea how you could pass to your foward by pressing L2/R2 so they can hit-up the ball.

What is L3?
Yeah, it is the left analog stick pushed in.

It's not exactly my idea, bits and pieces taken from different games.

eg The L2/R2 hitup came from Rugby 2004. The L3 drop the kicker back came from World Championship Rugby,

i would work more on the defence a bit more. i wouuld want to be able to move thm n and slide them across and a scramble defence would make t a bit more interesting.
