Passion and Excitement

Just an observation: Less than 24 hours out before a game and there is next to no hype or excitement in this place in the lead up to the first game of the year. We are now a bunch of nervous nellies, cautious as anything, now pretty much expectant of what kind of year we will have, even with a couple good recruits. Not going to start another McGregor hate thread but just think it is very telling.

every dragons fan should be nervous, it's been a tough 6 years that's for sure. i think this is our best team we've had since 2010-11

I think the supporters on here and dragons fans in general are waiting to see what happens. changes to the playing group, a coach that a fair majority of fans don't think has the goods to take this team far, a playing style that everyone hopes improves as the season goes on, defence patterns that certainly have myself worried, I think again it's a wait and see approach. Plus the dreadful end to last season from round 14 onwards. I truly hope that has put some fire and determination into the playing group, but the point is time will tell. I hope the mighty dragons have a great season.

I am more positive about us than I have been since the start of 2011. I am enthusiastic about us finally having a good halfback. I am now happy with our forward pack. I am enthusiastic about Dufty at fullback. I am enthusiastic about Lomax, even though he isn't named in our first grade team for round 1.

Last year when someone asked me how I thought we would go, I replied that I didn't think we would make the top 8. I said that I thought we would be competitive, but we didn't have a decent halfback and we had a fullback who could not pass and who could not score himself. I expect us to make the top 8 this year.

I am very happy that we did not resign Dugan.

Benji! McCrone! No more can we blame our halves for lack of direction.
And a fullback that can pass the football and has blistering speed. I really hope he gets a fair crack and Mary doesnt use his defensive weakness as a reason to move Nightingale to fullback and Mann to the wing. Because that is on the cards if Dufty gets found out in defense too often. It won't be Field or Lomax it WILL be Nighty.

Another new season.
Inclusion of some excellent talent.
I still think we will need to score lots of points to overcome our defence but hey, the Saints are playing at Kogarah ............. can't get any better than that.

Nick exactly this , after years of same same under Mary what will change . Finally we have a real number 7 a team that our Mary wanted . So as you say what will change ? Has he learnt from his mistakes , will he make change's when needed ? Over to you Mary let's have a big year .....

I hope to be 50% more passionate & excited if the team can display more consistency this year. Play strong for the 2nd half as well, not just the 1st half. Lift for the the 2nd half of the premiership draw & not spiral down and out. Select players on performance not the inner circle favourites.
So, I'm half excited & looking forward to a much improved & consistent year whilst still being a bit apprehensive around that one person at the wheel! Go the mighty RedV!!!!
