Never knew of him till 94 Grandfinal but his name will forever live in my heart thanks to that first 20 minutes where he single handedly ripped the dogs appart with 2 absolutely astounding off loads

He was a replacement for John Lomax, who was suspended after the GF qualifier against North Sydney. There was a last minute appeal by the Raiders which was turned down, paving the way for Osborne to play his last game in the Winfield Cup as it was then known.

Paul Osborne was a product of Christian Brothers Lewisham and played the majority of his career with the Dragons.

Osbourne played with the Tigers Flegg cup winning side in 1984.Balmain beat Penrith 10 -0 in the final, Tony Butterfield was in the Panthers team.

He used to live down the road from me and he was always a prick.
a few years after the '94 GF he went into Parliment and was still a prick.

he replaced the suspended john lomax and had a 'barry blinder' in the 94 GF.

Played with the Dragons most of his career
Was heading to the UK mid 94, but sheens asked him to stick around till october, coz he might just need him (osbourne was playing in reserve grade most of 94).
Then lomax got suspended and in comes osbourne
if sheens didnt ask him to stick around, the 94 GF would have been totally different

How was the offload for Furner to score in the 3rd minute????

It was the try that got us off on the front foot and we never looked back.

His effort goes down as one of the greatest cameos of all time, IMO.

well said, that impossible pop up ball straight in the bread basket of furns really set the tone of the match, we never looked back from there

also props to bella, thanks to him the bulldogs litterally wern't in it from the kickoff
