Penalties

Today with about 4 minutes to go, a scrum went down, but they must have lost the ball. They stayed like that until I restarted the match!!! Just wondering about penalties... I have the PS2 version. Probably 4 out of 5 set's when the oppostion has the ball, they get a penalty. I played one match where every set of five the opposition had I either did a high or spear tackle! EVERY set! The score was nil all because I managed to kep them out. I only got the ball twice in the short match. The first time I finally got the ball, there was a forward pass and they got another penalty. Then I got the ball in the dying seconds and got a try. PHEW! Anyone else found this? Do you know what to do?

mate

i find this games comes up with crazy situations that lets u either
a. win the game from an impossible position
b. lose the game from an impossible position

i have come from 10 pts down with 2 minutes remaining to snatch a win
and vice versa
have lost with a lead of 10pts with 2 minutes to go.

i find that if ur losing with 1 minute remaining
if the other team has the ball, with 10 seconds to go they make a mistake and the cpu gives u 1 last final play to win the match

its prolly the best part of the game IMO.
makes an exciting match with endless possiblilties as to how and whom will win.

i have come from 26-nil down
to lead 34-30 with 1 minute to go
then the cpu went nuts and drove 90m, to win the match in the dying seconds

keeps the fans on the edge of thier seats, and the player punching the floor or throwing the controller in disgust or jumping for joy if u win in that last minute style

I find that my leads are never safe. And that the best way to avoid forward pasing at the play the ball is to have wingers and a fullback with very good pass accuracy skills.

Just played Brisbane. Once again, every set of four, (set of four because I never got past 4 tackles before they got a penalty) they got a penalty. At one stage they got Three penalties in a row!!! This is starting to ruin what is otherwise an AWESOME game!

Two things I noticed.

When the other team plays the ball without a dummy half, I can't get my team to run around and steal the ball.

When the opposing side drops the ball, a knock is ruled and a scrum packed down straight away. There is no opportunity to pick the ball up and run with it.

You cant get the ball from dummy half, and a knock on is automatically a scrum...no advantage played in the game

yesterday i was playing NZ with melbourne and matt orford threw a crappy pass, SeuSeu went 2 pick it up and he fumbled it then i recovered it again and it was still the 4th tackle that pissed me off a bit since it was 22-22 with 1.30 to go

If they want to make the game more like the real thing, I think that advantage and the ability to steal the ball from dummy half should be included in upgrades.

Or even better, design it so the hooker is always the closest man to the play the ball, and if he isn't there, the next closest player gets there, so we don't have to wait while the pre designated player runs in to get the ball while the defensive line stand still waiting.
