From what to what? All the ones I've seen given were pretty clear cut in my view.

Used to be there had to be 100% certainty a try would be scored.

Now it is “in the referee’s opinion a try would have been scored”

Still subjective but less so than the old rule

The inteperation is that if lead runner is stopped then try, thats how Katoa got his, its much better now far more black and white

Good change. All it is really doing is applying the benefit of the doubt to attackers in penalty try situations which should always have been the case anyway.

That being said, in those situations I don't think the on field ref should ever have to make an initial decision. Just send it up and leave it to the video ref.
