Penrith have beaten St Helen's Under 21's 22-0 over there this weekend.

Pretty good effort considering the entire squad is made up of pretty much Under 19's with the odd under 20 player.

Lachlan Coote, Greg Waddell and Sam McKendry were standouts according to this:

Nov 22 - Penrith's Under 19 touring side has beaten St Helens Under 21s in the first match of their UK tour.

The young Panthers won 22-0 in a game played last night at the Knowsley Road ground.

Lachlan Coote, Sam McKendry and Greg Waddell had outstanding games.

JasonE is the bets person to answer but I'd reckon Saints would have to have a pretty strong Senior Academy. They have certainly had a good 16s and 18s side in recent years.

What I don't understand is why they are having an under 20s WCC between Penrith and Leeds. Leeds won the u18s this year but Hull won the under 21s.

We're going over there to play 3 games. The next game we're playing Leeds. Maybe the 3rd game will be agains Hull?

But they are promoting the Leeds game as the "Academy World Club Championship".

Hi Big Mick,
Unfortunately we can't guage too much from that win because the St Helens team was made up of uncontracted players trialling for a place in the Academy sides next year. But at least the Panthers had a hitout which will hold them in good stead for the Rhinos clash.
Haven't seen the Rhinos team yet but when i do i'll let you know.

The better academy teams on a regular basis tend to be Hull, Leeds and Wigan. For whatever reason Saints never seem to excel regularly at academy level.

Yeah, The England Students team. They are warming up for next years SWC in Australia. The game will be at Bradford Dudley Hill.

Has anyone got a team sheet for Saints kids?

I had heard they were sending over a weak side, but mainly because the better players were all involved with the England academy setup, which meant players playing out of position to cover for those gaps.

Penrith beat Leeds overnight in a dour affair apparantly.

Penrith 10 - Leeds 6

Pretty good considering its an under 19's team playing a mix of Under 18's and Under 21's side. Most of the Penrith team is around 16-17 anyways, so its a fair effort imo, to go there, only play one warm up game, and then beat a good academy.

That's a great result. We had a few of our leader players missing from the game and still managed to come out with a win. The experience on our young blokes in Greg Waddel, Wade Graham etc. is going to be invaluable. A head earned win is better then any easy one.

Nov 27 - The Panthers U19 tourists defeated their Leeds counterparts 10-6 overnight in a hard fought game.

Penrith lead 4-0 at halftime but surrendered the lead to Leeds. A brilliant individual effort by Greg Waddell - who ran nearly 60 metres to score - put them back into the lead.

According to assistant coach Matt Adamson, it was "a very good game with some excellent defence - the crowd of nearly 2,500 people got their money's worth."

Penrith Panthers 10 (tries: Michael Mate, Greg Waddell; goals: Mate 1/2) Leeds Rhinos 6

Waddell is a class act. Hope someone puts that try on youtube!

3.Michael Jennings
4.Greg Waddell

The centre pairing every Penrith fan is hoping for mighten be too far away now!

So what would this make our Under 20's win/loss/draw ratio look like?

Have to be quiet impressive. I think we only lost like 2 games this year didn't we?

The majority of the side played SG Ball this year who only lost one game also. That being the Grand Final where they played hopeless in the second half.
