Tonight for those who have Pay Telly. The Matty Johns show will have Brian To'o and Sean O'sullivan to help host the show.

Should be a little bit of fun.

Greg Alexander is one of Penrith’s best-known sporting exports.

In this episode of On The Record, ‘Brandy’ talks about growing up in Penrith, his rise in rugby league through the 1980s and captaining the Panthers to the 1991 Grand Final.

He speaks of the tragedy that rocked his family and the community in 1992, his move to New Zealand his triumphant return to the foot of the Mountains to finish his career.

Brandy also reveals how his media career almost never happened – all because of a concrete truck.

What a brilliant interview. He covered everything in there, death, success, leadership and family. He was remarkably humble for a man who has won a premiership played for Australia, SOO, and is a Dally M winner. Then he has carved out a media career for nearly 20 years. Yet, he is humble and grounded and never talks up his contribution to the club. When he was at his peak and lets be clear, the death of his brother robbed us of his best years, it was like watching poetry in motion. He was such a graceful and skillful player.

He wanted to be remembered as a player for being entertaining and as an official for always doing what is best for the Panthers. Mission accomplished Greg. Mission accomplished.

Bill Anderson gave him one of the best compliments when he commentating during the Major Semi Final between the Panthers and Norths in 1991.

“One of the most naturally gifted players I have ever seen in my lifetime”

When you take into account that this is the same period when the likes of Ricky Stuart, Allan Langer and Des Hasler (and to a lesser extent Peter Sterling as this was the year when he retired due to injury) were at their peak, that was one hell of a compliment to give.

1 of the best humans off the field. I always found him to be so welcoming even though he was naturally shy. Amazing that he overcame his shyness to be the media personality he is today.

This one is on Roycie from a few years back.

Premiership winner. Test and Origin representative. Coach. Champion bloke. Royce Simmons has done it all with the Penrith Panthers.

Royce sits down with Troy Dodds to discuss his rugby league career.

He talks about winning the Grand Final in 1991 and how he very nearly missed the famous match, his regrets over coaching the Panthers in the mid-1990s and the moment he describes as the toughest of his career.
