My attempt at seperating our blokes into the 3 squads, although it's not counting any players the Windsore Wolves already have, since i don't know too much about them at all.

NRL:

1. Rhys Wesser
2. Geoff Daniela
3. Michael Jennings
4. Maurice Blair
5. Michael Gordon
6. Jarrod Sammut
7. Joe Williams
8. Petero Civinoceva (c2)
9. Luke Priddis (c1)
10. Adam Woolnough
11. Frank Pritchard
12. Trent Waterhouse
13. Luke Lewis

14. Frank Puletua
15. Tim Grant
16. Tony Puletua
17. Paul Aiton

Under 20s:

1. Zoram Watene
2. Michael Mate
3. Chris Ward
4. Greg Waddell
5. Junior Tia Kilifi
6. Matthew Minto
7. Wade Graham (c2)
8. Shane Blackett
9. Masada Iosefa (c1)
10. Brad Goodwin
11. Joseph Paulo
12. Michael Leeds
13. James Theohaurus

14. Sam McKendry
15. Daniel Pinese
16. Mitchell Penese
17. James Smart

Windsor Wolves:

1. Lachlan Coote (c2)
2. Matthew Forwood
3. Peewee Moke
4. Brad Tighe
5. Luke Rooney
6. David Georgiou/Richie Williams
7. Josh McCrone
8. Brandon Hlad
9. Keith Peters (c1)
10. Brendan Worth
11. Junior Moors
12. Matthew Bell
13. Shane Rodney

14. Josh Bateman
15. John Nuumaalii
16. Mark O'Halloran
17. Dean Caldwell

C1 would be my first choice captain, C2 is the backup.

That's pending on form, and how i would start the season. The likes of Rodney, Moors, Bell and Peters should be in immediate contetion for first grade if they are in good form and some of the blokes in first grade are slacking off.

Also, if Windsor Wolves is considered to be better preperation for first grade then Under 20's, i'd love to see the likes of Zoram Watene, Greg Waddel, Wade Graham etc. given a few games there. Masada Iosefa and Sam McKendry have to make their first grade debut this season IMO also.

Dean Caldwell is perhaps the only real surprise in the top 25 squad given his being restricted to only two appearances in Flegg this season in his third consectutive season ruined by injury. To a lesser degree the retention of Pee Wee Moke is also interesting given his injury issues.

I like that squad, except I think Jarrod Sammut should go to Fullback and Richie Williams to five-eighth. Rhys Wesser is getting older and we need to look to the future.
I'm not sure about Daniela on the wing though, Rooney played well at the start of the season when he wasn't injured. I guess Elliot will make up his mind after the trials.

Rhys Wesser at his best remains our most potent attacking weapon and one of the best fullbacks in the game.

Jarrod Sammut is not at the Rhys Wesser level yet and assuming Rhys rediscovers his best form he can expect to continue his apprenticeship in the short term unless of course ME seriously considers he is capable of playing 5/8 which so many seem to believe he is more than capable.

Rooney was in fine form. But he lacks pace and really lets down the centre inside him. Daniela and Jennings work together beautifully. He does lack in defence quiet a bit, but he has plenty of time to fix that.

If Rooney does stay in first grade though (which i expect he will). I hope that when we are on the opposition line, we kick for him as we did in 2003. As a winger, that was his strongest asset.

Feel sorry for Liam Georgetown and Steve O'Bierne who appear to be the biggest losers from season 2007.

Georgetown was very, very consistent in his two years with us and his form at times in 2007 was excellent. His dumping after only one top grade performance was disappointing and he in my opinion deserved better.

O'Bierne was selected in our top 25 in 2007 and suffered a season ending injury early on. I am slightly surprised Andrew Pearn has been retained amongst the players to figure in the PL (Windsor Wolves) at Steve's expense.

It's hard to argue against the release of the more high profile players such as Firman, Youngquest and Co as clearly they were never going to figure seriously in ME's plan for 2008 and beyond.

I think this season has to be the one where Rodney actually gets back on the field again. Last season, he did not make it onto the field in first grade at all, despite being named a few times. I don't recall him taking the field in Premier League either but I could be wrong there. If Rodney doesn't get back on the field this year, then I think he will leave the club at the end of the season (if he doesn't announce a pre-mature retirement due to the injury that has kept him off the field for over (by the time of next season starting) 18 months - come to think of it, what exactly was his injury?)

Matt Adamson spent more time on the field than Rodney did this year!! Rodney played 0 games for the Panthers. I read he had 3 shoulder op's this year.

I dont think Sammut will be starting at fullback ahead of Wesser, unless Wesser is injured. He is still by far the most potent attacking weapon we have. And I'm not sure about Sammut in five-eighth. Although he give his best game in game out he would be a liability in defense due to his size

I hope Rodney comes back.

He is easily our most consistent forward and tries his heart out every game.

Has good defensive technique and I thought he was going to become our version of Steve Menzies after what he showed in 04 and 05. Just a shame injury struck.

I agree Munky...he's our most consistent forward on the sideline.

No way he should come back after missing, what will be TWO years of football. Trying isn't enough.

He needs half a season in reggies before he even gets a shot to come back.

Interesting to see Dean Caldwell still around...if he gets over injuries...he will throw his hat in the ring for halfback spot, if not off the bench in Reggies.

I was thinking eactly the same thing. He's been very consistent in 2007 - he was consistently injured:crazy:

I like the look of that squad. Great depth in the backline - there will be some competition there for spots, something that could not be said last year. Forwards go without saying. Five-eighth should be fine. It's the halfback that will be the x-factor - McCrone and J. Williams would be the frontrunners.

It'll be interesting to see what 7 players drop off that squad too.
