Lewis and Rooney won't be too underdone PP.

They have both been getting a good hit out in training.

Every week when we see them, they split up with the premier league
and play footy for at least 40 minutes, and they don't muck around.

There's big hits on each other, lots of enthusiasm, and plenty of talking
to each other as well.

They have been taking training very seriously.

And they are also both eager as buggery and chomping at the bit to play,
and that's half the battle won right there.

And I think the club is right not to risk them, and to give Priddo a rest this
week too.

It's going to be a very long season, and they don't need to go too hard too
early.

now of course we want to win both the trial and the round 2 match against the roosters. But lets face it if a choice has to be made I would rather take the rd 2 match, far more gloating rights involved :D

AND we still did it without Gower, Lewis, Rooney and Rodney.
AND we did it against a virtual full 1st grade goosters side.....including
Amos Roberts and Richard Fa'aoso.

And according to Max Cowan on the PI site.......

www.panthers.com.au/

Hi All

Final score 34-12. Crowd was almost 18,000.

We played the last half without Joe, Presto, and Rhys - they were just
being rested. And Joel and Tony only played about 20 minutes.

Clayton scored again in the second half and Danny Galea also scored.

Paul Franze showed he is going to be really good for us.

Peter Wallace played half back for the 2nd half.

We were sharp ... and our defence was one of the most pleasing aspects
of the game.

Cheers

max

yep just got back from the game. a very decisive panthers victory, 34-12. Preston Campbell was oustanding at halfback.

Don't say too much about him, he may end up as a cock next season

Anyone see the paper today that Tony Puletua is close to re-signing till 2008 and Rooney is going to be signed till 2008/2009 even though he is off contract next year.

Preston will more likely sign for 1 season.

Gower close to signing for 4-5 year contract.

How good's this. we're signing all our priorities before june 30.

Preston at half, Preston at half, Preston at half!!!!!!!!!!!

Wahoooooooooo!!!

Man I been waiting for that to happen for a life time already

Now for Waterhouse moved back into the second-row where he belongs :D

I recon you can judge how the Panthers season is gonna go by the first 2 games of the year. It's always been about attitude with us, it's looking promising :D

Call me a spoil sport but given that they are only trials I'm really trying to keep my expectation in check. Having said that our performances seem to have been really positive especially without full strength lineups on either occassion. Two weeks is to bloody long

Where do u suggest nearly the best halfback in the world and our Captain Craig Gower to play?

Five-eight

I still don't think hes a naturally suited to half-back, hes most dangerous when hes playing wide of the ruck. That doesnt mean he isn't our best option atm. The only reason why Langy doesn't play him there is because of Prestons passing game is too slow. One of the main advantages is that Preston will have size around him in defence.

and for 2 years Craig Should have got Dally M Player of the year, and last year, if wasn't injured for 8 weeks, would have got it again.
