No denying Grimmet's record, but I'll have to take other people's word on his greatness as the limited footage of his bowling on YouTube certainly looks 'juicy'.
yeah, old the old footage of anyone, including Bradman and Babe Ruth, makes you wonder... but the game's changed, and you just fall back on Benaud's line about dominating in any era....

Seriously though, Grimmett has got to be one of the most underrated spinners in history - acknowledged as a great, but worthy of a closer look when people start ranting about Warne and Murali
My Pop who watched pretty much everyone from the late 20’s to the mid 2000’s when he passed away said they he rated Grimmett and O’Reilly higher. They did have the benefit of uncovered wickets but the batsman could pad them away all day long before the rules got changed. And some of those wickets produced on those timeless tests could give the MCG a run for flatness. He also called Benaud a pie thrower so he was a very hard marker :joy::joy::joy:
