Pvl isn’t your normal chairman it’s normally the ceo that’s the face of the company

Does anybody even know who the chairman of racing nsw is

Dr Saranne Cooke. She succeeded Russell Balding after the NSW Government couldn't get legislation approved by the NSW Parliament to overcome the statutory term limit on holders of the Chairman's role, which is what caused Balding to cease holding the role.

Abdo has been more active in recent times, appearing on podcasts and the like. His confidence is growing.

Yeh he presents better and talks better than Pvl

Amazing how quick the years flow. In April 2020, Abdo became the interim CEO and in September 2020, he was officially announced as NRL CEO. So Abdo is approching five years, since he took over in an interim capacity.

He is the longest NRL CEO since the game became independent in 2012. He has served longer than Smith and Greenberg. And in the NRL era, only Gallop has been CEO longer than Abdo.

I guess Abdo, who is more quiet and reserved, is fortunate to have someone like PVL, who takes so much of the spotlight in the media. In a way, they compliment each other.

When he was appointed the media bagged him as a nobody

He worked in a commercial role in the nrl
In the survey done recently in The Oz or SMH (can`t remember) which involved the Coach, CEO and some other head official from each club Abdo scored a 100% job approval rate, quite incredible, up from a very high score last year. Meanwhile PVL scored 84% which was pretty much steady on what he scored last year.

How much pizzazz can $100million buy?
I thought you said Pizza, I was going to say a lot lol

It feels like AFL has hit its peak (and fair play to them on that) whilst NRL is just getting started. Just needs Perth to be announced then get working on Christchurch for 2030 ish alongside the Int game development, more event games and continued focus on fan engagement and the game will really be hitting its straps in next 5 years. A big tv deal in 2028 to fund it all wouldn't go amiss!

The NRL just have to activate Perth and gain some more market share over there and they’ll be clearly ahead of the afl. They don’t even need to ‘take over’ WA like the afl are so keen to do in the ‘northern states’

that’s what pisses me off about the afl. The nrl is happy to coexist with the afl but for the afl its all about ‘taking over’

if they’re the dominant code as they market themselves, it reeks of insecurity.
