That's what happens for Origin and finals.

Moving it around is a great idea.

It's not like there is some long and storied tradition of playing at Homebush
I’m a fan of moving it around

I’m just being a realist about what kind of dollars it would take

Or as Perth red said offer the same money but throw in stadium upgrades in qld

The NRL can avoid losing money, by pricing the tickets accordingly.

Less seats doesn't mean less total revenue.

See above.

If Suncorp has 20k seats to sell for these events, The price of these doesn't make 30k tourist come.

The NRL will ensure that 52k and 80k are the same money wise.

If the rumours of 35k seats being gone to corporates is correct then that won't change being in QLD

but gives Accor 50k seats to the public and 20k in QLD

NSW in effect can pay more and still make money hence why they will never be outbid

It isn't that it belongs at Homebush. Just that NSW will always pay more due to economics

Let it happen! Reduce the gate by 20 to 30k! Play it at an oval! Play it in a state where it isn't a major code!!

Why would NSW be able to pay more though? And why does I have to be 35k corporates?

None of these numbers are fixed, and can be worked around with dynamic pricing (less corporates paying more)

He’s mixing up corporates with stadium members which apply to both Homebush and Suncorp

Because there are more General public tickets and some where like Perth you aren't certain fans will travel.

The last few years I have seen plenty of bush footy clubs in groups at the game for their end of year trip.

That is the sort of stuff as to why NSW pay for it, NSW and QLD are the ones to get internal fans.

No way WA, Vic etc are dropping $10m on it in the hope popular teams make it. Origin is much safer because it appeals to a much bigger audience

It isn't all corporates related to the NRL, Sponsors, Board members, partners and so on for the NRLW and the state game before that are all counted.

PVL and co are all about the cash, If they could Cut those numbers and charge a premium they would. Stadium members in particular have paid a premium to have access to those tickets

around 15-20k fans travel to Perth for Origin. I’d have thought a grand final would generate similar number of travelling fans?

Origin you know who's playing so you can prepare, save for it. Grand Finals, unless you're a panthers fan, you don't know until the week before.

It would

Melbourne were rumoured to have wanted to pay 8 million for the nrl grand final

Melbourne would need to offer 20 million plus with the extra capacity that would make the arl think about it

Brisbane would need to offer 30 million cash with their smaller capacity. Same for Perth

No chance. Perth pays around $7-8mill for origin. might get up to $10-12mill but couldnt see it being worth much more than that. Magic weekend is probably worth more from a travelling fans perspective.

fair point around last minute finalists but when non nsw teams have made the gf the fans travel for it.

Nsw pays 8 million plus has 33k more capacity, is rectangular

That’s the benchmark then you have to factor annoying the nsw govt so it needs to be a killer bid for it to go

Melbourne has the advantage of extra capacity of 30k even if the experience of the mcg would be awful but even then they would need to offer at least ten mill from govt

For mine the GF is an event, it doesn't matter who is playing.

Stadium members isn't relevant either, as obviously you adjust that years fees accordingly.

Why would bush footy teams travel to Sydney but not other cities?

Sounds like you don't have much faith in the GF to appeal to an audience outside of Sydney

40 million increase when it’s all from non broadcast sources

Some would be revenues from hotels and the rest the gate from Vegas

Nrl has 320 million in net assets mostly accumulated since after Covid

What a beautiful set of numbers

Revenue (without including any dodgy govt grants) 744 million profit 62 million

Cash 200 million

Next goals are one billion revenue and one billion net assets

No lift in the broadcast deal, doesnt mean there wasnt a rise in broadcast income. They are structured to increase annually.
