No chance govt will allow itThe list doesn’t say it has to be live
It would be interesting if Stan/9 or Paramount/10 got everything then I believe they would be allowed to put everything behind a paywall and could show things on the anti siphoning list on a few hours delay, horrible for people that can’t afford it but would drive subscriptions
No chance govt will allow it
And the arl wont allow it either they need the exposure on fta to grow the game
Seven did bid for it previously together with Foxtel but they only offered 30 mill pa
For mine the next big push has to be membership and attendance.
That's still very poor for such a dominant sport.
“Free-to-air broadcasters don't have to buy the rights to televise events on the anti-siphoning list. Even if they do buy the rights, they don't have to show the event live: they could broadcast the event later, or not at all.”The list doesn’t say it has to be live

My apologies turns out your right
That’s what I love about this forum is how people can be just about 100 percent wrong every time
I think it will depend on the offer , games will still be on fta just delayed and with ads. I honestly hope it doesn’t happen as we seen what a paywall did to union but if they say $500m for status quo or $650m+ for paywall then the arlc will have a decision to makeAs bad as FTA is for the fans of the game. It is needed to grow the casual fan base, so not sure it helps the game to do that

While increasing attendances should always be a priority, a 20k average is definitely not poor. For mine the next big push has to be membership and attendance.

According to wiki nrl is sitting in 18th for avg crowds, 17th if you take out F1.While increasing attendances should always be a priority, a 20k average is definitely not poor.
It may look small compared to crowd juggernauts like NFL and EPL, but a 20k average has us among the top 10 attended sporting leagues in the world.
What about Tasmania?

cracking 20k last year was a great result. Improved stadiums will see continual growth as long as they dont price the avg fan out.
may not see those high averages this year....not trying to be pessimistic but
Will Warriors sell out so many games again?
What will Panthers crowds be like at commbank?
Roosters could see a big drop if they have an off-year
will be interesting to see if the Dolphins can keep their average above 20k?
NRL will be hoping the Doggies make finals again, even be top 4
Also the big bash has 44 games for the season and reduced from previous length because of crowd drop off, hardly a serious leagueYou take out F1 because it is series of one off events

Remember the average crowd for top flight Soccer in 1989 in England was 20,000.While increasing attendances should always be a priority, a 20k average is definitely not poor.
