A grand final is an event that people would want to see regardless of where the teams come from. Phil Gould knows that.
I don't know what his agenda is with his article. Maybe he is proposing (without straight out saying it) some change to the finals system so that it always ends up a Grand final with a team from Sydney Vs a team from outside of Sydney.

Typical Phil Gould - whinge like hell, ask alot of questions, ridicule people - BUT never actually offer a answer to what you are bitching about  - onya Phil, you're such a credit to your newspaper

He even manged to get a few side shots in at the salary cap while talking about where games of footy are played - woohoo! - don't hold back on your polictical agendas phil.

Then, there's his second part about poor Finchy and the Roosters - sob sob....big bad media being mean to poor defensless little chickens  .....nothing like a club that gets their players charges downgraded so much that they get no suspension and THEN have the hide to bitch about their good fortune and act like the victims.

Why do you never write articles like this when players from other clubs cop a shit decision Phil?....is it ONLY the Roosters who you think are hard done by?....why bitch about the rest of the media's biases when ALL you do is present your own polictical agendas and one-eyed views of your own club?

Can't agree more.

The last game was Qld versus Qld AND the bronco's kindly agreed to move the game to Townsville (thanks heaps guys). It was a game to remember, and would not have been the same in Sydney. Grand finals are different - you have to go where the facilities are. So, Aussie Stadium or Telstra Stadium would be about the main two options, right?

As well as this, there would be many supporters who would follow if their team made the grand final. Heck, I've never even set foot in NSW before but it would be worth the trip if the Cowboys made the Grand Final.

If Gould didn't like the fact that the Cowboys Versus Broncos game was moved to Townsville, maybe he should have stepped onto the field and told that to the near 25,000 screaming fans at the stadium, and the thousands of screaming fans at other venues in Townsville. Gould, go home and stay there.

I wouldn't waste my time reading anything Gould writes, it's hard enough listening to him babble on during games. Mute.

Isn't the Grand Final already a sell out? In which case, if Melbourne and the Cowboys get through, what have we lost? So a few might not turn up, the NRL has already made its moolah.

Tickets are always available on the Monday before the GF for the two sets of supporters who make it.

An 80k seat stadium.

Precisely.

On top of that, there are probably people with air tickets etc to Sydney (eg me) who are going to go no matter what.

This is abject nonsense. Gould was, in fact, sued by the members of the judiciary panel two years ago, because he went into bat for St George prop Craig Smith, whom he felt was being victimised for his running style.

You talk about Gould's "agendas" -- you ought to have a good look at your own.

If Gould didn't like the fact that the Cowboys Versus Broncos game was moved to Townsville

Once again, we have a poster who simply invents his own fantasy in order to further his anti-Gould agenda.

Far from "nt liking the fact", Gould actually _pitched_ to have the Cowboys-Broncos game moved to Townsville.

Only because his club wasn't involved.

What's that got to do with it? The poster said that Gould "didn't like" the game being moved to QLD when, in fact, the opposite is true -- he lobbied like many others to have the game moved.

And your point is ludicrous, anyway. If the Roosters or any other Sydney team had been involved, there is no way moving the game to Townsville would have even been suggested.

El Duque, aren't you a Souths fan? Have you forgotten the sustained push Gould made to have Souths reinstated to the competition?

That's gratitude for you. But, sadly, it's a familiar story among Rabbitohs fans, who conveniently forget how much red, white and blue there was at the "Save Souths" rallies ...

The fact he admitted that the Roosters would never of done it really reflects his true feelings.

He gets up the NRL for not expanding and spreading the game and then comes out with that rubbish.

Are you serious? Do you honestly believe ANY Sydney club -- or Melbourne or Canberra -- would have agreed to transfer a semi final to Townsville?

Brisbane agreed because both clubs are located in QUEENSLAND.

I mean really, this is one of the silliest things I've ever seen on this board -- and that's truly saying something. It's right up there with "Gallop favours the Roosters because he often wears a red, white and blue tie" as another luny poster wrote last week ...

For godsake, wake up to yourself.

Oh God. You are STILL missing the point. If the Roosters had been involved, there would never have been any chance of the game being moved. Roosters are playing Cowboys this week but is any sane person suggesting the match be moved to Townsville?

"God spare me days," as Rex used to say ...

The only person that made any indication there would've been a chance was PHIL GOULD. If there was no chance then why did he say the Roosters never would of done it??

The Grand Final has already had 70,000 tickets sold, so there is only around 10,000 tickets left which are saved for the two teams who make the Grand Final. Last time the Storm made the GF, they had 5,000 people come up for the game, something I think they could match again, and the Cowboys would at least have a few thousand turn up so at worse, you would only have a few spare seats left in the ground, which I'm sure people would turn up to and fill those remaining seats.
