the other RL clubs were premature where as I believe that the Tits will be a sucess. I'm a admirer of Michael Searle and I think he is one of the main reasons that it will work.

Seagulls were from Tweed in NSW and the Crushers were poorly run and we didn't have the population that we have now. We now have a much higher population and if you also live here, you'll be aware of the amount of Vics that live here

The major reason I wouldn't want an AFL franchise in the area is that it will affect the league at a grass roots level. I grew up in the area, actually it was just below the area in north coast of nsw, but now live in an AFL state and have seen first hand the amount of money the AFL throw at the kids to get them in the game early. With the amount of Vics in the area it will not take much for the kids to start to drift more towards AFL especially as the RL seem to take the trickle down approach to the distribution of funds,ie if we give everyone at the top of the tree all the funds eventually some of it will trckle down to the roots.

You are probably right in that the population will be large enough to support both codes at the moment, however if the Titans can't get any of the kids coming through then really they could end up being another Melbourne Storm. The only real upside is that if a team does move up it will be the Kangaroos, so it may actually end up converting more people to league.

Gus flees country

Phil Gould was an observer - but not a particularly interested one - at the Keith Urban concert at Acer Arena on Tuesday night. Spies reported that his head was moving, apparently in time with the music, but he is adamant that was a misread. "My head was moving because I was nodding off," Gould said. "[Channel Nine publicist] Cathrine Mahoney sent me some tickets and my missus was keen to go. I'm grateful to Cathrine for thinking of me, but I didn't know who he [Urban] was and I won't be going back."
