Smith has had no credit for the way he handled the Cronulla affair.... he handled it in a true professional manner all whilst the usual media dogs attacked him.

He is a huge loss for the game.

5 years down the line when the new TV deal is up for grabs that's when we will see the huge loss that Dave Smith was to Rugby League.

Absolutely. Our game is influenced by these boneheads and their agendas.

Our own media shit cans the game, influences change then shit cans the result.

Dave Smith stood above these merkins and steadied the ship all while the media threw shit at him.

I don't think we will ever know the truth.
He IMO had Rupert by the short and curlies and Rupert didn't like it.
Its a shame Grant lost his bottle otherwise Rupert would have had to parted with more money.

I would love to be proven wrong by the end of the next tv rights deal, but I still adhere to what I said at the time the deal was signed late last year: the ARLC has made a blunder by rushing to the table and trying to come to an agreement ASAP. They had Fox by the balls until Smith stood own. Had they made Fox sweat it out for one more year (i.e. towards end of this year), I believe Rupert et al. would've been very nervous and the ARLC could've extracted much more from Fox. Also, we wouldn't have any of this stupid Friday 6pm kickoff rubbish, which I can see being more of a nightmare for home teams (excluding the NZ Warriors) than Monday night football.

How anyone can think the Sharks having this germ as a 'supporter' is a good thing for the Sharks is beyond me. He has a long and established career of using his interest in the club to repeatedly ferret out every misdeed and sensationalise the crap out of it to further his career. I wouldn't even wish him on the Dragons (......maybe Manly).
