i am usually good with php and have never had any major problem how ever i recently tried to install some new forums for a mate and i have hit a problem i will post some screen shots and explain what i have done and if anyone can help please do so.

first i uploaded the directory of my php forums into my ftp server:

next i changed the config.php permissions to 666 or writable by all.

config.JPG

then i opened up install.php

and this happened

now my server does support php and mysql so everything should be working. i havent installed a forum for about 3 months before this one maybe i am forgeting something but i do know that all the files of the phpBB2 were installed correctly i have double checked them all. so i must be doing something wrong.

can anyone help at all.

P.s: sorry for the large images and as soon as i get some help or if no one can help me then in a few days i will remove them from my server and they wont appear anymore.

thank you

First off, check that PHP is installed on your server. The images in the first frame suggest that they cannot be recognized by the server. Although supported - you may have to ask for them to manually enabled.

Second, the view you see in the second and third pictures are exactly what I see on my properly installed forum, when I view them from cPanel's 'Show File'. Try opening the config file directly from the website, not from cPanel.

Thirdly, if this is phpBB2 like I suspect from the files being used, there is an automatic installer on the cPanel main screen under 'Bulletin Board'. PhpBB doesn't really like being on a second level folder, for example http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/ is valid, where http://www.yourdomain.com/folder/website/forum/ is not.

I think that should maybe help. Ask again if it doesn't.

If you need a hand with anything, just send me a PM... happy to help :D.

Are you happy if I edit your images smaller now?
