Pick the team - with a difference

Yet another left-field topic from yours truly.

We've all seen and perhaps suggested nominees and recipients of this year's best players/clubs/coaches etc. Dally Ms, People's Choice etc - put them aside. Forget about the team of 2003, forget about best players in each position.

The task at hand is to create, using one player from each team, a full 17-man side from the NRL. The rules are you can use only one player from each team in the starting side, and each player must be playing in their normal/capable position. I.e. if I see Lockyer playing front-row, I'll know you're not trying very hard. ;-)

Now, I know what you're saying - there are two spots left over - you can fill them with two celebrity players (i.e. not from League)

Chewbacca's already signed a one-year deal with the New York Knights - official reports indicate that they thought they were signing Kirk Reynoldson from Melbourne, and when the Wooki (Chewbacca that is) trialled for them they couldn't tell the difference.

Reynoldson is said to be considering joining the Wooki international side for the next World Cup after being approached last week.

All I know is that he was due to go down to Sydney at some point over the last few months but it was postponed - not sure whether he has done his bit yet, but I'm sure we won't recognise him anyway.

I don't like basketball much, but he is the player with the big white/blond Mason-style afro.

That's a pretty ordinary team though Jedda. There are only a handful of big names in there.

If I try and do it again I'll look at naming the top 4 players from each team, and the top 3 players in each position across the competition. When you get matches you put them straight in. It would probably give you a decent team if you took the time to do it - maybe tomorrow.
