I'm curious what league fans think of John Eales. Leaving aside that you don't like union, and that Eales is not the type of player who would have been good at league, do you admire him for what he did in his career. Should he be considered an Aussie sports hero?
I must say he looks the part of a sports hero, but when I watched the Tri-Nations matches this year, I didn't know enough about union to judge how good a player he was. I think that's because of the position he played - it was clear to me that players like Lomu, Umaga, Larkham, Gregan, Roff, Mehrtens were skilled, but I couldn't make out what the forwards were doing.
